Dotabuff?

you know when you look at your past games on dotabuff they sometimes have little qhite text below saying "normal skill/high skill/very high skill" but some have nothing underneath?

how does the grading work?

the reason why im asking is at the start of my dota playing every single game has been marked "Normal skill"

then it changed to basically nothing underneath with a few "normal skill"

now its still basically nothing underneath for 70% of matches or it has "high skill" for the remaining 30% or VERY RARELY "very high skill" in some games.

how does the ranking work on this?
is nothing underneath worse then normal skill or is it the other way around?

i sometimes get placed in "High skill" but they are in random solo pubs.

i am so confused hahaha

Normal is 2.7k and under
High is 3.0-3.5k
very high is 3.7k and up

average MMR bettween players.
If you go onto the dotabuff fourms, there are like 999999999 posts asking the same question, so you can look there as well.

so what is it when there is nothing?

It means that the MMR is too spread
EX: you have a 2K player in a match with a 5K player
EX: you ahve a no MMR player in a match with a 1K player stacked with a 3K player.

Your matchs are more of a 2k player stacked with a 9k player... :D

There are no 9k players...
