Wait, so this baseball player dude really thinks of himself as one who is comparable with geniuses like Einstein? Whoa, I thought this was just a sarcastic introduction from F.E.A.R.0!

I think we should propose a petition to ban baseball as it seems to influence it's players minds in a disgustingly negative way. Or at least help Mr.Lowell attend a good doctor. Somebody has one in mind?

Someone get Doctor House, please.

There's nothing wrong with the quote. The quote thing is what he said. The other is what I copied from the website. I just wonder what kind of a mind would think that I said that.

Actually, I thought you were the one who said everything that was not in the quote-box :X.

The mind that reads an article which does not indicate that the entire content is copy-pasted.

I never heard of this guy until now. After going through his page it just looks like a guy who created blog dedicated solely to flaming games he isn't very good at. He simply takes what would be a short forum flame and turns into something long winded with an eloquent spin.

I doubt there is a large market for selling books on why the MOBA genre sucks.

Am I the only one going "oh boy, here we go!" and "wait, let me make some popcorn"?
There's no earthy way of knowing which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing, or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining, is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing, so the danger must be growing. Are the fires of Hell a-glowing? Is the grisly Reaper mowing?! YES! The danger must be growing! For the rowers keep on rowing! And there's certainly not showing ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!

Most definitely not! In my case I'm making some samosas and chutney but you know... same thing.

Well, I read the prelude and I can already tell that the guy is just an angry nerd who stays up at night because he's mad that people are enjoying something that he doesn't, and he can't deal with that. Seriously, think about it. He has such an issue with people having fun playing a game genre that he personally detests that he devoted a massive amount of time and effort to tell them why they should play something he approves of instead.

I actually thought, just from what was said here, that he was a troll/flamer looking for attention, but it looks like he's actually serious, which makes it even funnier. Instead of bashing something that millions of people love, he could've been doing something that he enjoys, but I get the feeling that putting down others' opinions is just that: something he likes doing. Basically you need to just pay no mind to these people. At the end of the day just have fun, and if that's playing Dota 2 then keep doing it.

This^

Honestly, who has the time to write a 600+ page rebuke of DotA 2, a game played for enjoyment. He's just wasting his own time and facing the possible backlash of his statements, when they won't have any affect at all on the population at large.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I'm actually interested on how he's going to continue the book.

From what I can see only the first part (introduction) of the book is the only part released as of now, with the "Why I am a dota expert" chapter pending. The introduction was him saying what he'll do so I can't judge the book itself - yet.

Seems to be trying to hard to actually be an attention seeker, so I believe his general view against mobas is actually his opinion and he has some points to back it up somehow.

Will reading his book change a fan's love of the game? Possibly, most likely not. But it's interesting to know some opinions from someone who seems to despise the genre, and this guy could actually show some problems most haven't noticed yet. And regardless of how dota DOES suck, it'll still be popular and loved. FPS games like CoD in particular objectively "suck" in a way because of few new content in releases and that it's essentially running and jumping around shooting people, but it's quite complex in a way and is definitely something that'll last because of the amount of fans.

So far, dotafire seems to be quite mad about this book/article with some not even reading the article itself, come on guys :(

Perhaps after you read a "chapter", you could make a short summary of it and post it here for those who don't want to read anything he writes. Please do it, I want to know what going on with this "book", but I feel uneasy reading a text with an excessive amount of critical insults aimed directly at people like me.

I just dont see the need in making a FRIKKIN ENTIRE BOOK that 'explains' why a game is bad. A game is good when a lot of people enjoy it. Because that is what the game was meant to do.

Then if the first argument that you see is that according to him the RTS style control is bad because it isnt something new, and you are controlling 1 or a few additional units, that doesnt make sense at all.
It was made inside an RTS, you cant micro in a smitle like camera angle, and the game couldnt be even slightly the same if you change the controll.

Im already a person who doesnt give **** about many things that im not interested in, so i wil not reading his book, since it serves no purpose, he can dedicate as much time as he wants in such a thing, but frankly i think its pretty sad. He seems like the gamer equivalent of people who like the kind of art with 2 colored dots on a white canvas.

Maybe it will produce some more arguments that i can laugh at if i stumble upon some them in a dota related website.
