an MMR 4301 means you are in the top 1% of all dota players... was this a party ranking or a solo ranking?
oh and quick question everyone?
does party ranking scale player level within the party ? since i read that if you play in a party and you have a couple of 4000's and then a 2000 and a 3200 it all scales so everyone is shifted either higher or lower to even out the party?
and for solo MMR does that just solely go off your core stats from each game ie win/loss k/d/a xpm gpm and ls/d ?
I actually had some great teams and games in normal mathmaking but the ranked games i played are a little iffy.
My first game was pretty good but the enemy team had a feeding legion commander with brown boots and a radiance.
The second game i had a feeding alchemist on my team, and an anti mage who was actually suprised when we lost our lane.
The third game i asked a drow ranger why she had 3 wraith bands. Then she flamed me for buying phase boots on razor and knowing nothing about the game. Becouse appearently i was a carry who needed attack speed and damage, even though we already had a bloodseeker who was getting easy kills against their terrible team, and as a a result we had plenty of right click damage.
She then advised me to get an S&Y, becouse it would give me the movement i was looking for as well as damage. (haha S&Y and damage)

I'm having the same problems
My first game was pretty good, but we had a feeding Legion Commander who couldn't seem to understand what he/she was doing, inevitably losing us the game by dying before Teamfihgts even began.
The second game was okay, although our Phantom Lancer and Legion Commander were a little...we eventually won thanks to a well fed Phantom Assassin (courtesy of my Crystal Maiden skillz 8{D ) and a commendable Mid Venomancer (not his choice, he just realised we had 3 Hard Carries and realised he was the only one who could win Mid).
The third game, I was pleasantly surprised when we had 2 Support Picks, though a little disappointed since I couldn't pick a Support, so I started thinking about which Lane I should take as Dragon Knight, when suddenly...a horror rarely seen in Pub Matches occurred...
WE ENDED UP WITH 4 SUPPORTS!!! D{8
...although you could argue that Lina is a Mid Hero, you still have to ask, why Lina? Naturally, the other Team had the one Legion Commander that didn't Feed, as well as 2 other Carries. We were eventually overrun and lost. -_-
I never want to see a Legion Commander in Ranked Matchmaking ever again -_-

this is more of a guess, so dont qoute me on it, but i think that in party matchmaking all your initial rating form an average rating which is used to find opponents of approximately the same rating. So its pretty much like solo matchmaking, were there every player gets a hidden initial rating (i dont really know how this is calculated). So lets say your hidden rating is something like 3000. The 10 placement matches you play are simply to adjust your initial rating.
If we now assume (for the sake of argument) that every loss brings exactly the same amount of -rating and every win gets you the same amount of +rating, you then would be at >3000 if you won more than 5 games; and at <3000 if you lost more than 5 games.
And it should be pretty much the same for party matchmaking, only that the initial rating is the average value from all the individual initial-ratings.
