I'm 83 hours in DotA 2, and I really like it. ALOT. I have been learning more day by day, and I enjoy the game very much so. A term I have not familiarized myself with is offlaner. What is an offlaner, if I must ask?
An offlaner is a someone who can effectively play in the off-lane, also known as the hard lane, also known as Radiant's top lane and Dire's bottom lane.

Nope, Tom is right. But offlaners all have some way of escaping and go into match ups that are 1v2 or 1v3. They also have someway of getting farm. like ion shell for DS or track for bounty.
Some other terms for offlane would be suicide lane and solo lane. The reason its labeled as the offlane is because this is where your offensive trilane is, and suicide lane because you can solo the lane vs the enemy duo or trilane.
They're heroes who can either safely farm or get experience in the "hard lane" by themselves. Usually have a way to escape and survive if you're about to get ganked.
The priorities of an offlaner is to survive > gain exp > farm gold
Another question from me:
Is offlaner role #3 or #4?
If they're a Carry with an Offesnive Tri-lane, they're a 1
If they're a Dual Laner with a Support, they could be a 2
On their own they're probably a 3
If you have a Jungling Carry like Nature's Prophet (who isn't the Offlaner) then they could be a 4
If they are a Support in the Offlane, they are most definitely a 5 (not as much easy access to Jungle as in Safe Lane)
The offline role is #3. The #4 player is the support who will take the last hits in the jungle camps when you pull the creep waves.
Not 100% sure about dual mid lanes as to if the #4 or #5 goes mid, as this is very rare in pub matches.
