I was watching this pub match on the very high skill bracket, where some guy was playing BH with a build I've never seen before or ever thought viable. He had Phase Boots, Linken's Sphere, Force Staff and Blink Dagger. Is this item build worth it? And if yes, how do you go about with the laning phase and the build order of items? I'm curious because BH is my favourite hero and I thought I had him all figured out until this popped up. I want to know if this build can actually be viable and what purpose it fulfills.
I don't know, I haven't heard of it too. From what I can see, it's a build that focuses on track, his slow/maim, and Shuriken Toss. I feel it has some similarities with support Sven or Nyx Assassin in a sense that BH doesn't need loads of damage items to deal the damage he needs, so long as he is with his team. I can't comment on whether it is valid or not but it could work if you're going to use BH as more of a supportive ganker.
I'd say it's about slightly more valid as this build.
They are even pretty similar. But really, I think he was trolling to be honest. A no-damage support shouldn't need Linkens, Track and Shuriken toss isn't difficult to cast enough to justify Blink Dagger or Force Staff.
I thought he was trolling too at first, but turns out the match was actually quite even in terms of kills and it could have gone either way... I don't think he'd throw an even game by trying out something as ridiculous as this, which makes me think he's tried this before with reasonable success. I'm just trying to make any sense of what he's going for, because it's cool to innovate and all that.
So I suppose that is a general mobility build you get on heroes that benefit from better positioning like Windrunner or Rubick. Apparently it works for Bounty Hunter as well, huh?
What is the general build order for this to be effective?
Doesn't make sense. I occasionally see linkens on dps/carry BH's (though BKB is much better in almost every case). The other items suggest a support build, though I think blink is a waste on someone like BH. He's already got phase/euls/track for a massive MS boost and forcestaff on top of that, I just don't see how blink is necessary at this point.
The way I see it, blink was unnecessary (but still useful in a way), but the linken's is a 5000 gold paperweight with that build. Doesn't need the protection (as a support with multiple escapes) or the regen (since he already has eul's). Would've been much better spent on drum/mek/vlads/pipe (whatever was needed) or wards.
Don't make a build like this unless you know what you're doing (and your team has no support). Just because BH can be played as a support doesn't mean he can do it well (because his skill set just isn't suited to that role).
