I have been enjoying the mid role a lot, and I have been playing that role to the point other sections of my game is not catching up. While I can variou mid heros like QoP, TA, Puck, Storm etc, I don't do well in the side lanes. As result I tend to call mid a lot and try to pick around my team or counter the enemy team. We need global presence I'll pick Tinker, need a team fight hero, Puck or Magnus.

But this doesn't always work in pubs as someone may call Mid, or sniper/Drow goes mid even though there are supports in the other lane. Playing a carry seems a bit hard as sometimes I'm competing for farm or have to worry about gank coming my way when I see people missing instead I going for the gank.

I also play mid in most of the games, because it's my favorite role and I play it the best.

But to be a stronger player, you must be able to play everything good, not only so you play it when it's needed, but also to know how to counter such lanes.

An "occupation" to consider is to be a babysitter. It's kind of hard, I'm still not very good at it, but it definetly gets you into othere parts of the game like warding and creep pulling in the side lanes. It takes a lot of self-control to sacrifice your own farm for the carry's!
I got to Notable, Thanks!

OR you could consider the offlane. It's somehow similar to mid, only you basically overpower the enemy (You're outnumbered though so you'll have to play safe) to gain advantage. It's definitely harder than going mid, but it gives you a lot of experience.

If you're playing mid heroes in the sidelane, they will generally not do well. They are good for the mid lane because they get an above average advantage from the gold/level lead over the sidelanes, and can use this to help their own sidelanes win their matchups through successful ganks. In many cases I feel like a good mid player (or lack of one) is the single greatest influence on whether a team wins or loses, which is why it's annoying when you know from the beginning that your sniper mid isn't going to gank, get the runes or even call mia.

Learning other roles is definitely something you should be doing though. The solo offlane (if you have a jungler/trilane) will let you get the extra levels/farm (provided you have a suitable hero and know what you're doing) but it's very different from playing the mid lane, and you'll have to learn new heroes if you usually only play mid heroes. DS and Clock are both good to start with, since they can get last hits from far back (with DS's shell and clock's flare), and you want to be close to the edge of exp range (1200) to minimize harassment.

It's too bad you cant check stats in-game, then you'd be able to make sure your mid had a brain...
