I just played a captains mode and after an enemy team picked phantom lancer(Kotl was banned), I decided I should sent three heroes on the hard lane to pressure him, because I thought he wasn't strong without the ability to spam his nuke. also I went on easy lane with lone druid vs mirana. our trilane was : chaos knight, wisp and visage. theirs: chen , lina and pl(I said my team to play safely, since the main purpose of that trilane was to deprive PL farm). So it ended up that Pl got loads of kills and regardless I won my lane with a couple of kills from mirana , I blamed myself for chosing wrong lane configuration. what would you advise about three heroes on hard lane?

With an aggressive tri-lane you do want to get kills, maybe even go for first blood setup, and then go on Chen to stop him getting rolling. Personally would have picked something more aggressive than Visage as it takes him time to get his skills strong enough for a kill (takes a while in a tri-lane) - you want somebody who can get a big stun/slow/nuke at level 1.

With his invis you might struggle to get PL, but you can get his partner, then sentries later to get him too. Either way it should keep it hard for him to farm.

Edit: Had a quick look at the game, the tri-lane failed really hard :(. Really poor ward placement choices against a jungler, total lack of invis detection and just general bad play. Chen wasnt even a problem (he barely came to lane and got killed twice by QoP). What's the point blocking their pull camp when your supports are constantly auto-attacking their creeps? Visage didn't even skill his slow until level 4, and Chaos Knight completely ignored a team fight that was basically right next to him!

You should have stomped that lane. CK+Wisp+Visage can level 1 kill either PL or Lina and PL+Lina should basically never be able to kill you. Chen is a problem but can be solved with good warding.

I call misplay.
Feel free to check out my guides for Spectre, Dragon Knight, Siren, Medusa, Sniper, Disruptor, or Void. They're pretty cool.

Seconded. You should have won, Wisp guarantees your CK always has mana, and Visage is stronger than Lina. Although once you feed a few kills it's over, EXP-lead is so important for a trilane.

If they're playing safe when they're the aggressor, they've already lost that lane. They're splitting exp across 3 heroes if they're all sticking together and slowing losing any advantage especially if they're not killing any of the heroes.

Instead of Visage/ Io I would probably have picked up Venomancer and Vengeful Spirit instead just so they can go roam/gank jungle + mid lane easier. They much stronger level 1-4 heroes IMO and can easily get a few extra early kills.

Not necessarely Vengeful Spirit or Venomancer, but anything that has a good stun.Basically something that can gank rather well in the jungle, even a Crystal Maiden would have done the job properly.
