Maybe that's your solution: get better at heroes with no escape mechanisms. I counted and I'm pretty sure there's over 50 with no built-in escape. You'll discover a whole new realm of fun that is positioning, map awareness, efficient warding, underleveled and underfarmed support, etc. etc.
I don't see why you should be discouraged if you don't do well. We all start somewhere.
I agree haha. However, I'm not bad with ALL heroes who don't have escape mechanisms, just certain ones. I think you'll find that some spells have escape capabilities such as Shadow Shaman wards to block paths or Earthshaker fissures to block paths. The heroes which have no survival on their own don't seem you be used very often if at all in most realistic games. Such as Treant or Death Prophet. I can't really think of any useful heroes that are without some sort of escape mechanism.
Have you considered that you might be bored with your team as well? Have you tried playing alone or with other people?
While it’s horrific for the most part, there are some nice random people around who might be fun to play with. This might come in conflict with your competitive side though…
Umm if i were you i would probably play a support I wouldn't be able to play every game farming and farming then after my hard farm hope that the supports are up to speed with my game... so i play suppport and make sure im up to speed with my carries game its much more interesting the the first option other that you could play a very very very aggresive solo mid that really makes things so much more mind gamey (if thats a word) but still I only play carry when im with my team and want to win but in team matches im still usually support lol.
well, y'oh we all get bored. First of all, boredom is liek our inability to entertain ourselves, so u can't blame that on dota. but ther r a lot of options for u to solve this problm. 1 way is to jus take a braek and play another game, maybe an RTS would be more satisfyng to ur competitve nature right now. another option is alter ur mind state while ur playing dota, this can be achieved thru drugs (legal ofc) or sensry deprivation such as standing in a dark closet for 30-45 mins, also sleep deprivation + energy drinks = completely new dota. somtimes I like to take a pinch of chewin tobacco when I know i'm gona win a game, so evin tho i'm gettin cancer i feel like a winner. mayb try and spice up the matches by telling jokes, u cud also surf the web for funny stuff, or liek i do and troll dotafire forums. neways jus remember only noobs get bored. http://www.bored.com
When I get bored with hard carries, which takes playing 5-6 games of them well, generally I like to pick semi carry/gank pushers... NP has been a personal favorite lately, simply because I can be ****ING EVERYWHERE. I get a major feeling of satisfaction when I can global ult half the other team's hp with a REALLY well placed ult. But not only that, teleport to their fountain, or behind their towers right as someone with 1/10 hp thinks they're safe, and solo gank the shizz out of them. Split pushing after I get shadow blades/wards on their lanes, get level 25 and max build around the 40 minute mark, and watch as I crit 1k+ on their hard carries, while having a 2.6k hp pool lol...
Nyx assassin can be so much fun too, especially playing in a game with 3+ squishy agility/int carries... Shout out to all the crystal maidens and outworld destroyers out there... Coming out of no where to burst damage over 1.5k hp never, ever gets old lol. If you play with a pudge, or shadow shaman, nyx can be even more fun... Pick off/stun their team as the try to save them.
I suppose it's just being a sneaky mofo who pops up on you right when you don't want it is what really gets my jollies off... The feeling you get when you know someone on the other side of the monitor is screaming "WHAT THE ****!?!?!? AGAIN?!" Is unmatchable. Maybe I should start playing refresher Zeus...
