I don't like complaining but I could give a list of reasons that a perfectly rational why this character should not be classified as a strength hero.

The only argument that could even be fathomed as to why he is str and not int is that he would some how be OP if he got damage from int... but how is that possible when fulfilling his role consists of waiting for the team to bunch up and for yourself to have just the right angle to charge in, ulti, then slash?

And even then he's still going to rely on the other team to clean up while you try to figure out some way to get your *** out of there with out dying...

Yeah, I spam my nuke all the time from the start, but this character needs dagon and dagon bad...

Think about it...

You max out your slash and empower asap, empower yourself to first weaken down a creep and then slash to gauruntee the finishing blow on a number of creeps.

This guy's strength is farming, which means that he can max a dagon out faster...

and then after dagon, the veil of discord can work well after as it works with all his area of attack spells and then cleans up with dagon spam.

WHO THE HELL SUGGESTED MASK OF MADNESS ON THIS GUY?

Ok, so maybe MoM can help the farming out a little more and get some life back? I dunno?

Refresher orb at end for ulti, at least that was recommended...

I got a question... does cleave steal life?

Cause some guy said that I was suppose to tank with magnus...

Tank? Are you serious? Tank WITH WHAT?

Is it my empower skill with the cleave that is suppose to steal lots of life when there are lots of creeps coming down the lane?

People might say, "Oh he's a strength hero and shouldn't use dagon because he doesn't have the mana pool"

But did those people ever look at what dagon does?

The mana cost get's cheaper and cheaper the more you upgrade it, and who can upgrade it fast? A farmer like this magnus.

You'll be spamming 800 damage fast in no time, and it should also work with veil of discord if i'm not mistaken.

I build him as AOE god, Battle Fury for godlike cleave with W, Mask of Madness for godlike AS and Refresher Orb you know why. This hero have potential of wiping enemy team 5v1, if you can only catch them all in ulti and auto attack untill they all die. Only double ulti will take 1/2 of their health in mid-late game, + auto attack and Q finish the work. You can combine it also with Sven, Earthshaker or other AOE stun to ensure wipe.

Building Dagon on Magnus is just stupid, why you wanna buy single nuke, when with item like MoM you can do the same dmg to whole team during his OP ulti?
"When game is going full ******, you can only go with it. If you start going against it, if you start going half ******, you´re ****ing done for. When Aloha decides to go middle rubick you let him, and you start buying orb of venom on invoker. That's how dota works" -n0tail

Because he hasn't always been played the same. He used to be a low tier hero at best, and seeing him as a support/carry was more common. And by your logic, why is Omniknight a str hero? Why is Veno an agility hero?

Well guys I'll be honest, just this last game I think i figured something out...

Starting items

-Wand, Recipe for soul ring, Health pots

-Get soul ring asap by getting the mana and life regen items at the side shop

-Start with shock wave and go back and forth between shock wave and empower, This is the best for creeping early...

-Spam the hell out of shockwave from long distance trying to include creeps in the attack obviously, soul ring and wand together really work awesome for the spamming.

-Arcane boots could be good to get next, but if you want life to work with the soul ring, and cheaper boots with faster movement speed, get the tranquility boots.

-after tranqs, ... or arcane boots, get dagon and level it up...

after dagon, then what ... refresher orb?

Anyways, this build works amazing for me...

why are you always trying so hard to change the way heroes a re played? like with that 40 page long debate about clinkz. with this, you will push your lane, any decent team will beat the **** out of you, especially if you play magnus in the suicide lane

His team fight role is initiator, you rush a Blink Dagger, and that would also explain a reason he's Str. He has to be durable enough to jump into 3-4 enemies and ult. Soul Ring / Mana Boots works if you're in a suicide lane, if your mid you get bottle, and if you play a carry role you don't use your mana.

Tbh, I don't get a single point in my empower if I'm mid or suicide lane. I max Shockwave then Skewer, I find that empower pushes the lane too much and I try to freeze the lane a little ahead of my tower. I also need that extra range for initiation or escape with skewer until I get my Blink Dagger.

ok, here we go again.

there are many different role with heros to chose form in the role. First you chose the role you need, then you chose what skill set has the best synergy with the team. Magnus was extremely popular because he his E used to have 1200 range at level 1. he can buff an cary and counter push a lane. This made him an ideal solo lane hero. When using him as a solo laner he gets fast levels and gets his ulti faster than most to give him good presents in a team fight. When you play a hero you maximize its strengths with gold. This involves getting team fight items such as blink dagger, AC, Shivas, ex.

The other was to build him is as a cary. If you send him into a tri lane you have good killing power and good farm. This lets you farm items such as Battle furry, datuluse and satanic.

The reason his is STR is because valve said so. Do not grumble about balance or possibilities. think about it as traits and ulties. Instead of looking at it "he is a caster he should be int" I see it as "has has a lot of health, and is a caster"

And lastly please do not buy dagon. EVER! please! do not do it! you are paying 1300 gold for 100 damage. If you get a clamor for 140 you get 21 damage every attack so if you attack 6 time you will get more damage then a dagon. A dagon will deal 100 damage for 130 gold an ogre club will give you 200 life for a 1000 gold. Lastly if you got 3 bracer for 1575 gold you get 27 damage 100 mana and 114 health. If you bought 2 dagon parts you get 200 damage for 2600 gold. you could also get a mystic staff for 2700 gold that would give you alsmot 500 mana. A Armlet for 2600, the exact same as a dagon, would give you 65 damage per attack 25 attack speed and 475 health along with 5 armor and 8 health regen. Not all of these are good items for Magnus but most are better than dagon.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.

He's a strength hero because the creator wanted him to be strength.

You again?Magnus has an innate cleave and 3 AoE skills.I guess that its reasonable why he's a STR hero.Take away all your damn phylosofies and just send them down a drain.

Magnus is STR because Veno is AGI.That's how your logic works.X is Y because Z is T.0 ****ing logic.

Now,about his real build. You are a DPS character.Yes,A DPS STRENGTH!But Wulf,I NEVER SAW ONE BEFORE.

Answer:If you are this dumb,go play League of Lehendas. No ****s are given honestly. He relies on mass AoE damage. You max Shockwave and Skewer to have effective ganks.End of story.Max the cleave last as you do with Sven.

This Hero only needs experience in order to be effective: you don't need to farm at all because, as long as you have Bottle and Arcane Boots, you'll be alright until you finish that Blink Dagger.

The current skill build used in tournaments is max- Shockwave, then Skewer without points in Empower until level 10; obviously, get Reverse Polarity when possible. You don't need Empower because, since you don't aim for damage-increasing items, you should use it on your team's carry only (any melee carry or Gyrocopter and Luna, since they "cleave" in some ways) and amplify their damage for teamfights.

If you want to farm with Magnus, then get an Armlet of Mordiggian and Black King Bar: you can easily get outcarried by the majority of carries, but as long as you pull out decent RPs you'll be fine. I don't recommend this though, it's way more useful playing a full initiator role and let your carry do the cleaving.

Also, what? Dagon? There's no reason to buy it: you can spend all that gold on items that amplify your damage (which gets cleaved) like Drum of Endurance, Yasha, Maelstrom or even Crystalys. The Armlet, though, is still the best option in my opinion.
