So, yeah. Invisible heroes. Currently, these guys are my bane; against anything else, I can at least put up a fight, and sometimes kill even more than one hero coming at me at once. I am, overall, starting to die alot less, and be more careful overall.

....but that means squat when up against, say, Riki.

Frankly, I just dont really know what to do against him, or any hero using heavy amounts of invisibility.

There's the Gem of True Sight, but that seems like a very risky thing to get, since it drops.

Sentry Wards I know about, and I'm working on learning warding in general, but still not quite knowledgeable about good ways to use these.

Dust of Appearance is one that kinda confuses me. It's easy to understand just what it does.... but how do I know when is a good time to use it? This one seems like an important item, so any tips on this in particular would be appreciated.

Those are the items I can think of. I have a terrible memory, so it takes me awhile to memorize things like the items in this game.... of which there are so very many.... so there's likely other things that I'm not even thinking of.

Any tips on this subject though, would really help alot!

Well, if you don't like using items to reveal invisible units, then play heroes that are counter-invisible, like Slardar, Bounty Hunter and Zeus.

Also, Dust of Appearance is the safest and easiest option, since you just have to pop it when an invisible hero is around, after attacking you, or when he escapes, it depends.

Sentry Wards are good for lanes, if you lane against a Broodmother or Bounty Hunter, they'll be really useful!

Yes, it's true, Gem of True Sight is a risky item, but it's the best option, also, the most durable teammate should carry it, like an Ogre Magi, Centaur Warrunner , etc., depends what your team has.

Necronomicon lvl 3 has a summon with true-sight, great in mid-lategame pushes
Even a warped mind can see the odds stacked against it!

Hades basically covered it, put sentry wards in lane so heroes can't gank you (Ex. Bounty Hunter, Rikimaru.

Gem of True Sight is probably the best option, but make sure you give it to the most durable hero, such as Chaos Knight or Naix.

Dust of Appearance is also really helpful, just use whenever an enemy goes to attack or shows himself to you.

But in the end, just be careful and try not to overextend and stick with your team.

Also a few things to note:

- You can hit invisible heroes. Just making sure you know that :P

- Illusions of heroes that have Gem of True Sight will also have true sight.

- Doesn't work on couriers. (Courier can't have true sight)

- Clockwerk's Rocket Flare and many others provide vision, but not true sight.

sentry wards - against initiators or when you're pushing a lane.
e.g. a support warding where you're standing while hitting the tower to counter treant/bh/riki/slark.

dusts - when ganking invis or for those hit-and-run heroes.
e.g. Barathrum carries dust when ganking clinkz/bh/drow/sniper.

gem of truesight - good for both but can be dropped.
