I'm saying that aggressive supports tend to be meaner players. If they're winning, they're probably winning by a lot. Thus, taunts. If they're losing, they are probably losing by a lot. Thus, flames. It's a lot more risk taking, and risk taking means that there something to brag or complain about. Sure, you can say it's more skillful or whatever, and that has its own value, but it does make them more toxic players than the guy who spams heals on Huskar and hope it works out.
Like, I can't recall the last time a Lich or a Dazzle flamed me, but I can remember a lot of times a Shadow Shaman or a Disruptor flamed me. Don't take it personally, it was just an observation.
Precisily this. Every role that promotes more independence and greedyness naturally is, by definition, more likely to be picked by people that don't care much about their teammates. Of course this is just a tendency, and I've been finding a lot of nice players out there in every single role.
Also not that being greedy with support doesn't mean playing higher risks, so the standing back saving is not a synomim of what Cuttle is talking about. For instance, I play high risk with Crystal Maiden most of the times as you know, but I still play it PPD #6 position style. Being greedy in support is spending way too much time farming to get your items instead of listening to the flow of the game and helping your team when needed + helping the other support getting consumables. In a team with more than one support, it gets way easier for both to have something, which will help the team as a whole; unfortunetelly, what happens sometimes is the #4 decides he doesn't need to help one ounce because he needs that Blink Dagger- Aghanim's Scepter, so you're stuck with a very poor #5 that's almost useless in the late game, which also affects everyone negatively.
Example: A very hard game we won yesterday (http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2398524705). Almost in the end of the game the Winter Wyvern made fun of me, saying "such a late game and those items are all you've got"? Yes, here's why: https://yasp.co/matches/2398524705/vision (plus smokes). You see, I still think I did the right choice in not being greedy, because we had tough problems with map control since they bought two gems, but if someone else had helped me a bit, I would have more items, like Silencer and Winter Wyvern did sharing support, and therefore be more useful.
I wish he wasn't a meta hero, so I didn't have to feel bad when picking him now (and worse because I suck), when I finally felt like playing it cause it's so fun to jump and fish around ;_;
It probably depends on the skill bracket and area where you're playing, since I haven't seen a lot of Slark in the last games. Actually almost none at all. But I just came out of a game where I finally got my second kill with the hero (http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/2398937987) and I'm not (usually) a douche, so forgive me if I don't go in a ranting agreement here :)
I honestly don't think he needs a rework because I don't see him being overpowered in neither competitive nor pubs, but if people really think so then Hamster's idea could be a good one. A subtle nerf that could make a difference, I like it.
