the income i said is earned after paying all the bills.
the electricity bill itself comes to like $1000 because our cafe is basically a two story type deal, so double the lighting and air conditioning, not to mention the cleaning bills. The internet is quite expensive too (all of us get about 0.5 megabytes per second when all of the pc's are turned on and downloading.)
but our popularity is mostly due to the LAN tournaments we hold. I usually volunteer as the admin for CS 1.6 and DoTA 2 tourneys when i have time.
EDIT : also, the income does not include pulling all-nighters in the cafe (we do that a lot, just all night dota 2/dota mod marathons :D).
ours is roughly $700 i think?
without cleaning bills, cause everyone here keeps their own trashes XD
cleaning is done by the boss
we are using fan instead of airconditioning, in spite of the good equipments TT
but yeah, its 24-hours dota2 over here, and i can imagine the boss living in a castle in 1 year
In Indonesia, we have the regular internet cafe, the generally peaceful public computers gathering round'. Usually each computer is surrounded by wals to give a bit more privacy, like your little room.
Then theres the Gamenet, where computers are rowed, and people played FPS with MAX voice settings.
Without headphones.
Oh, every 3 second it is 'HEADSHOT' 'BAM BAM BAM' 'HELMET PROTECTION'.
Are you the type of person who needs privacy and tranquility to enjoy video games? Then please do stay at your home playing at your personal computer.
Or are you the type of person who disregards others and always play a music or a game with max sound setting without headphones and is used to this all the time?
Then come here to the Gamenet. Let our loudness consume you.
Also, most people in Gamenets are playing Point Blank and other games which Indonesian versions are owned by a company named Gemscool.
I live in Portland, OR and I don't think there is a single LAN center in the area. Only one place came up when I googled and they haven't updated their website in like a year or two and their facebook page is gone so I assume they aren't even open. I know of a few places that have tables for hosting LANs and of course there is PDXLAN events twice a year that always sell out. I think the last time I went to an open LAN center was over 12 years ago playing CS 1.6. It was fun since that was pretty much the only game they hosted and the games were hosted locally so you were just playing with/against the people in the LAN center. If you went on a weekend in the evening there would be a wait to play.
In the states its just not financially viable to run a LAN center anymore. The only true advantage would be having that group of people around you to experience it with but aside from that most gamers have better rigs at home that are tuned to their play style. Having a dozen or more PC's sharing an internet connection could bog it down unless the LAN center is paying for a much more expensive line which of course makes it even harder to make a profit. $800 a month is pittance in the states, I make more than that in a week.

And don't forget Garena FIFA
It's so bad that on every PC you would hear "GOAAALLL!!" or sth like that.
