So what would your 6 slot specter be? Would you have skadi, butterfly, abysal, ac, manta, and boots of travel? Or would you trade out the manta for the radiance?
You can easily scale Spec up to 9 slots. Combat items would be Skadi, Butterfly, Abyssal, Manta, Bloodthorn and Assault Cuirass, with Moon Shard consumed, and keeping Radiance and BoTs in your backpack. In terms of purchase priority, you'd leave Bloodthorn, AC and Moon Shard for last because their gains aren't as important as you get from the other items. Manta's just too good on Spec to ever slot out; 66% more damage, and a pair of desolate illusions. Conversely, Radiance does drop off hence why it's used solely for split-pushing and wave clear in the ultra-lategame.
@KCAF: AC is a given against ET. I'll try the build, but the spell lifesteal on basically everyone is virtually nothing. Each Desolate hit gives you 16.25 HP in lifesteal, which isn't worth the cost. Frankly, for 5900, there's so many better items you could get. Refresher is so much better. I'll try it, but I don't expect it to be great unless you're already so far ahead... in which case, Butterfly will do just as well to cement your advantage (seriously, it's such a great item for that...).
@Hamster: The HotD is because armour and HP regen gives you pretty decent sustain/tank, and you get Satanic eventually. While Vlads or even MoM would be better for early aggression, Helm allows you to Dominate a Wildwing, stack a camp or two, and then Tornado it for huge amounts of gold, which is the main purpose of the item. If that's not such a great idea (ie SF is on your team/someone like him) then Vlads or MoM (probably Vlads) is better. Might add that addendum to the guide, plus some maths :)
Ever got surprised by a 5th pick Elder titan?
Natural order starts kicking butts off of stat based carries. My poor morph just gets his *** handed to him.
Thankfully,Spectre has dispersion as a saving grace. But u still need that AC on you.
AFAIK, I read somewhere on reddit that if you haunt then you get lifesteal off of all illusion desolates. Also it reduces haunts cooldown, provides mana for spamming daggers, and gives 400 HP as well.
An Inferior skadi, but couple it with a BKB and you get the effect of desired HP.
If my assumptions are not true,i would rather build refresher.
Can you try this build in wtf mode and give suggestions? Because I do like it and I would appreciate an assent given the fact that you are an avid spectre player just like me and could teach me a thing or two more than I know.
Satanic>Heart. Me likey.
Well the yasha/urn/PB are early aggresison items...but the early Helm of the Dominator does pretty much nothing on Spectre...except allow you to farm jungle. Right?
@Terathiel : I've tried out your efficiency helm/yasha/PB build and actually I really like it. As I see it, the point of the build is to go to the jungle early (that's the point of the early helm) and farm it as fast as you can. But if you want to do that you don't need urn of slahser since you already have lifesteal for sustain. Instead Quelling Blade is a must IMO since it increases your farming speed by 40%. Spectre actually farms jungle pretty fast with QB/helm/yasha, and it's a solid non-greedy alternative to radiance as a farming build.
Actually, it's intended for early aggression as much as efficient farming. It does allow quick jungling, though, and I do usually get a QB. I love Urn because it solves mana issues, gives nice HP and has the charges thing for ganks and clutch saves/sustain. It's intended for a team that ganks a lot and tries to snowball into early objectives, whilst also maintaining a strong lategame. Think Spectre-QoP-Centaur/Bounty/Axe-Abaddon/Dazzle/Tree-Lion/Venge or something along those lines.
And I made a mistake, I put the note on Silver Edge in the Dispersion section, not under Desolate.
Also got to say I don't think the artificial build is very good. Octarine doesn't do anything for Spectre, you get Abyssal anyway, BKB is sub-par and AC is better on your #3 or someone.
And wont saving manta just for this would be like fighting with a handicap? Especially i many cases where gankers such as slark will get this item BEFORE u manage to buy a manta.
The matchup of Spectre against Slark sucks anyways. Silver Edge doesn't make it much worse than it already is. Slark wrecks any hero that doesn't have a disable or a blink-like skill.
And Spectre is one the extremely few heroes in this game on which getting Manta Style as a first item is a good build. So if you're worried about that just rush manta.
He will just lvl? death to break linkens and then Doom you. It's honestly a terrible item. If the enemy Doom has nothing better to do than Doom the 3K HP Spectre just to get rid of Dispersion instead of dooming your Enigma or something which would be way smarter, then you can just tank the damage and walk it off. So building tank items like skadi/satanic/heart is enough to deal with it.

u sure manta purges that silver edge???

Imo,its a big deal really. Break is the bane of all carries and now needs an honorable mentio in all carry guides.
Glad that you mentioned this in desolate section. But in the interest of proper formatting and the fact that it disables dispersion also, can you make a seperate section on playing around silver edge or break-abilities in general....
Would you advise buying linkens for doom?
I am upvoting the guide.
As a seperate build can you add the artificial build? Spectre is supposed to build stats. But artificial build happens when you buy BKB,AC,Abyssal and octarine core. Eat that moon shard then start raping *****as.
Put down silver edge a big HUMONGOUS COUNTER.
Spectre's late game comes from desolate and dispersion. And they both are done for once the enemy buys this little puppy.

Yep. 100% sure it does.
Think about it, how broken would dota be if the debuff wasn't purgeable :)

Hey your standard build is missing level 5, and for some reason there are only 3 levels in spectral dagger, can you please fix this?
Done.
