Tinker in Pub games

Introduction

Hi, This is my first guide on DotaFire so I hope this guide won't suck and that it might be useful for some people.

I have no real experience playing tinker competitively, only in public games, but i think this build works quiet well.

Tinker should be played mid lane, because of his ridiculous burst damage, which makes him a very good ganker early and even mid game. During Mid game you should farm so you can get the core items and use him as a pusher. Late-game tinker is a burst hero with alot of crowd control, silance and alot of other things if you have and can use his items properly.

Pros / Cons

Pros:
- Good burst up to mid-late game
- Good gank thanks to burst and boots
- Great counter-pushing
- Great versetility thanks to rearm and items

Cons:
-Relies on getting Boots of travel too much IMO
-Enemy with BKB and alot of silance screws you over
-Gets ganked easily himself
-Might be hard to micro all items
-Really sad losing qoute:(

Items

First you start with bottle, as it helps you regenerate mana between ganks and if you are in mid lane, refiling it with runes are easy unless enemy takes it. If you are not in mid, then I might innclude some usefull items later but I want to focus on how to play tinker as mid.

After you get bottles then get boots, helps with ganks and it is a part of THE most important item on Tinker, Boots of travel.

Once you got boots I normally go directly for boots of travel because exept the fact that tinker is squishy, he dosnt need anything in particular to be a god ganker. His mana can always be refilied with bottle and you should finish your enemy with laser-->missiles without having to use it a second combo.

When you get boots of travel, then build for a sheepstick, because without it you are useless, all you have is the blind from laser and a good burst in mid-game, and people are getting more health by this point aswell so you are less effective with the burst.

After sheepstick I normally go for shiva's guard for the survival and extra mana to keep up with spaming sheepstick---->messiles--->rearm combo.

After Shiva's then the items you can get depends on situation, team and enemyteam. If you need survival, build bkb, for the magic immunity(it is also good so you do not get silanced, it is arguably a core item) or Linken. If the enemy is heavy on melee heroes, get manta so you can use illusions to confuse the enemy and maybe a Heaven's halebard to disarm them and laser them so they cant hit you. If enemy is caster heavy get orchid and bkb to silance/become immune to magic respectively.

Skills

If you are in Mid you should skill laser first and the missiles, max out laser, then missiles.
Rearm is not really needed because burst should kill without needing to rearm and it just drains mana.

At lvl 8 i take eithir rearm if i got boots of travel or march of machines if I do not, However, rearm should be taken at lvl 9 as you should have boots of travel then.

At lvl 9 You should have boots and rearm at lvl 1, then max out march of machines and then take stats untill you get sheepstick, then rank up rearm to rank 2 and 3. The reason for that is because without sheepstick, you will not have enough mana to support rearming with rank 2 and 3, even with sheepstick, if you use much mana on spells and sheep, sustaning lvl 3 rearm without shivas can be a little hard.

Gameplay

At the Start of the game, you should go mid-lane. I normally start to gank at level 5 because laser is rank 3 then and the damage is pretty ridiculous then, before I find it a little too low. Of course if you feel like you can gank before lvl 5, then by all means do it.

Once you are lvl 9, continue to gank with boots of travel(which you should have by now) until you feel enemy is getting so much health your bursts doesn't do enough to gank with certainty.
At that point you should push and farm untill you get sheepstick. However, keep in mind you still have a team and your damage is decent so don't ignore team fights. I feel that you can, at least to a certain degree, ignore small skirmishes like 2v2 fights tho.

Late game you job is to use sheepstick, blind people with laser, use missiles for extra burst and any other item you got late game. However, keep in mind that you do not have infinite mana so don't spam spells just to run out of mana seconds late. Use items and spells alot but do not overdo it,something with i do sometimes:( Also, don't waste sheepstick on a support hero if you have orchid as you can use it on the carry instead and silance the support hero. Know which target to use what on to have the best overall effect

Summary

All in all Tinker is a great early game ganker and a good late game disabler, busrst hero(with dagon) and pusher. His main weeknesses is silance, so try to sheep them first or tell you teammates to focus them first, and his midgame when hes only real useful area is pushing as the enemy have more hp and you burst does not have the same effect as early game(keep in mind that they are still pretty good tho).

Hope you like this guide and keep in mid, this is for pub, not competetive.:D
