Lanaya is generally considered a situational hero but she is far from it, she has the ability to out carry most hard carries due to her damage potential she can easily crush Faceless Void's and Phantom Assassins due to Meld and Refraction as long as you build her right she can out carry them and give enough room for your other hero's in fights.
I would not recommend putting her safelane due to the fact that she has so much early game potential as long as you get your Midas, Phase, Blink, Bottle before 15 mins you can begin to farm off enemy supports and some carries.
Lanaya is a good counter hero in lane due to PsiBlade's heroes like puck and invoker she can easily dominate in lane.
Hero's you need to watch out for are ones that can burst your refraction easily E.G. Viper,Tiny,Huskar,etc
When drafting in Captains mode i suggest getting lanaya 4th or 5th pick as she will be nearly impossible to counter
