Techies: Get excited people!

Who is this guide for?

I am targeting this guide at people coming over from LoL, as well as people new to the game. I will write more indepth guides when I get my hands on the BETA or when the game is actually released.

I have played dota for around 6 years, techies is definiately one of my favorites mainly due to the fact he can easily gain beyond godlike as well as annoy even the best players.

What does Goblin Techies do?!

I am basing this off Dota gameplay, as that is what I am familiar with and techies hasn't been introduced into Dota2 yet, but hopefully this will be similar enough to get you all ready and excited!

Land Mines:: Plants an invisible mine that explodes when an enemy nears. The explosion deals less damage if the target is farther away (At 200 range, it deals 50% of the stated damage). Deals damage to buildings. You may only have 15 mines placed at a time. This ability does a whopping 600 damage at max level! Your bread and butter for early game kills!

Status Trap:Plants an invisible Stasis Trap that stuns nearby enemy units when detonated. A situational spell, I usually level this later in the game unless I am baby sitting a carry at Bot lane. Late game this will win the team battles. Having everyone stunned for 6 seconds is a gift from the gods!

Suicide Squad!:Sacrifice yourself for the greater good. Deals massive area of effect damage. The explosion deals less damage if the target is farther away. If you die and kill some units, you will earn gold, but not the experience. Similar to Proximity Mines, the farther the enemy is from you, the less damage they will receive. Does not damage buildings. Okay, get one level early game to deny people from killing you, otherwise I don't think it is that good a spell. It may be SUPER fun to kill people with, although it isn't a very team oriented spell. Early game it has quite a lot of damage and can get you some early kills.

Remote Mines:Plants an invisible mine that will only activate when triggered. Does not damage buildings. Lasts 8 minutes. Acts as great wards, but more importantly a stack of these will kill any hero! Max level with aghanims scepter will kill an entire creep wave!

Okay so they are the outline of what spells techies will probably have! I haven't gone into damage values or time values too much as they will probably change. Just know that techies has the most damage output of any hero with all his spells late game, the downside is all of mines are countered by wards or Gem of True Site. I will discuss how to counter these later if people want.

I find techies role in games to be a thorn in the side enemy heroes and most importantly carry heroes. He can plant mines anywhere on the map, which will directly hinder ganking heroes from farming off your allies! As well as being able to farm extremely well early game off heroes and later game off creeps, as well as being able to push more effectively and defend better than any other hero in the game!

Items

The item build I have shown is the one I mostly use.

I always start early game with a scroll of teleport, soul ring recipe and the rest in mana pots. I quickly teleport bottom and plant a stack of 5 mines- will kill any hero including tanks (sometimes they might survive if they are lucky) I stress pick techies fast! Then quickly buy and teleport, you don't have a lot of time so quickly plant wasting no time!

Rushing soul ring and arcane boots allows pretty much constant mine planting, which should lead to constant kills and farming!

Most games people hate techies and purchase wards and gems. To hilariously counter this, I always purchase a force staff. Heroes attacking your mines can be pushed onto stack and they die shamefully. Also force staff allows for a much needed escape!

Aghanims scepter increases techies ultimate damage, as well as increasing cast range! This is a must for the one ultimate kill creep wave pushing action. Once you hit late game you are the defender and pusher for your team, so having the extra damage and range allows you to stop a push in one spell, as well as the fastest pushing out of any hero, a must for techies.

Late game you will find yourself in battle with your allies quite a bit, constantly plant status traps and mines, having sheepstick will allow a much needed disable for your team, increasing your usefulness in battle. Also gives you the much needed mana.

Dagon, and orchid and any other Mana items is required for you to keep planting and helping your team out.

Overall increase your mana and regen as much as you can! Get items that will help your team out! Late game you arnt going for kills, you are more going for reducing your teams deaths as well as pushing and defending!

Summary

This guide should have wet your pallet for playing Techies in Dota2, the thrill of receiving first blood before the creeps even fight is almost too much excitement for one to handle and will bring a grin to anyones face ( apart from the raging person who died).

Techies is a strong defender, pusher, and inhibitor of enemy ganking heroes. He can be played in almost any game situation and should be highly enjoyed by beginners to professionals.

If people are interested, and maybe when I get my hands on Dota2 I will create an indepth guide to mining, and playing techies in different circumstances and against different heroes.

Feedback is highly welcome and wanted!
