Introduction to Rubick

Hey cool kid, Welcome to my very first guide! Rubick is a very interesting intelligence hero who can stun, nuke, support, and what makes him stand out from the crowd, copy other hero's ability's which make makes him a very versatile hero.

Pros and Cons

Pros

+Versatile
+Great harasser with Fade Bolt
+Great disabler with Telekinesis
+Has gank/teamfight potential with spell-steal
+Usually isn't focused on in team-fights
+Can become one of the best heroes in the game if used correctly.
+Fun to play/troll with

Cons

-Weak against invisible heroes like Riki or Bounty Hunter
-Squishy as a sponge
-Can become weak mid/late game unless well fed or have a good stolen spell
-Poor base movement speed and armor
-Spell-steal requires good timing
-Situational hero
-Requires a decent grasp of most or even all heroes
-Tough to master

Explination of Skills

[Q] Telekinesis Is a great stun with a great downside. This ability lifts a target in the air temporarily, and when the hero falls whoever is around the fall will be stunned as well. Sounds great right? Well, for one there's the 18 second cooldown, meaning that you have to be rather conservative on how you use this ability. Secondly, as it heads toward late game this ability seems to become a little more useless because most hero's will outrun Rubick at this point, leaving this ability to mainly get away from enemy heroes.

[W] Fade Bolt Is Rubick's other most important ability. This ability works somewhat similar to the Lich's Chain Frost as it chains to attack targets. However, Fade Bolt also gives off a fairly nice debuff by reducing an enemy's base damage, which makes this ability ideal for pushing and slowing pushes.

[E] Null Field A good passive ability that shields your team with a bit of magical resistance. Not much to say here.

[R] Spell Steal Is what makes Rubick the sexy hunk that he is. It's pretty simple, take a spell from whichever helpless victim you come across, then watch as the other team drowns in their misery. You mainly just have to keep 3 things in mind when using this ability. When to keep a spell, when to get a new one, and who you should be stealing the spell from.

Explination of Items

Arcane Boots is something you'll need not only for mid game team-fights, but also for spamming your second ability since you will be using it a decent portion of the time. However, this item becomes obsolete by late game and at that point you'll want to upgrade to Phase Boots, or Boots of Travel if you're comfy.

Magic Wand is an item that doesn't really need to be justified. For how cheap it is it offers amazing help in bringing your health and mana back up.

Blink Dagger might seem rather silly to use with Rubick at first, but it's better than you think. Due to Rubick's poor mobility, you'll have a hard time escaping and ganking (unless you have an escape ability like Blink). Although Force Staff is also a viable option, it doesn't have as good of escape ability, especially late game.

Aghanim's Scepter is an item that you don't want to go for too often. You only really want to use it when you have enemys that have good upgrades ( Laguna Blade and Wall of Replica come to mind), but otherwise it's not worth it.
