Pudge, The Mid Master

Most people doesnt realize HoD is pretty ****. Pudge mid is alternative, he can perfectly lane if someone else like invoker needs mid or simply to solo. Powers treads is not necessary for pudge, has it will only increase his overgrown health, but getting phease is good for chasing, has AngryTurtle said. Mid pudge needs bottle, rune control + anti-harrass item, if you dont get bottle you will have mana problems ganking unless arcane.

3 hearts is a waste.... I'd perfer to get scepter after 1 heart. I would never stack hearts.

Power treads are traditionally not a very good item for pudge. Phase helps make up for his slow speed when chasing someone to get them with rot, tranquil helps solve his health management early game and are insanely cheap, arc boots completely solves his mana problems, but treads just gives some extra health and boosted attack speed (which is practically useless for pudge). Also bottle is an absolutely mandatory item for mid pudge especially if you don't pick up arc boots.
