Before you say this is a troll guide and hate on it consider reading it please and try it out for yourself and maybe you will go "oh hey this isn't too bad and works quite well actually." "maybe I shouldn't be a meta *** and try new things out myself."
this is a legit guide to support life stealer. the reason this works quite well is because of the open wounds and rage ability and your ultimate infest which you can go inside of your team mates have them blink in for you pop out and q + e for rape sauce, or you can even hide inside the creep wave in mid while the enemy team pushes up and surprise attack them after you ping your team to follow up. the possibilities are endless with life stealer and he is a much more fun hero to play as support since you have to be more ninja and careful since you don't do as much damage till later in the game, but your utility and items in the early game make up for it ten fold.
early game items are really dependant on the game and how much of douche bag your team is. if they say "GG life stealer support ff" or "xaxaxa rr cyka blyat ls" you pretty much have to get wards and courier and a stout shield to survive till level 6 when you can start killing things yourself in lane or roaming to prove yourself. then you get medallion of courage and Vladimir's offering and phase boots since your team thinks you are a carry and you should at least semi carry
if your team believes in you and predicts victory and everything "its in the bag" yadda yadda, then you can get regen items a few wards and rush medallion of courage and tranquil or arcane boots depending on if your other support didn't get them for some reason. the reason I put tranquil boots first is because of the regen stats the armour to counter act the armour reduce on yourself from medallion and the move speed is great for ganking and helping other lanes which you should be doing early about level 4-10 you should have ganked at least 6 lanes. if a gank fails you take a few creeps and go back to lane or ward runes or even jungle a bit if you don't have a jungler. taking a few camps isn't going to hurt your team any.
late game items are just situational again if your team is flaming you just go a carry build so they will shut up. get black king bar if need an extra rage for long team fights, get abyssal blade if need a stun and mini bash, get sange and yasha and blink dagger if they have a storm spirit or puck you need the extra move speed and mame and blink to get in range to cast open wounds to catch up to them pesky blink heros. get ***ult cuirass or heart if you are really fed. if your team mates believes in you then get real support items like shiva's guard, pipe of incite, eye of skadi, black king bar, basically anything to help you get tanky and slow people down or stop nukes
you want to max open wounds and rage ASAP but take a point in feast and infest for the survivability and utility or your ultimate when you feel you need it. that is the best option but if you get a pub stomp stun chain lane you reverse the skill build and go rage then open wounds and alternate like normal and still take a point in feast and infest if you feel you need them if not then feel free to wait till you maxed them two out first as they will be devastating to the enemy team. free life steal for all your allies that attack the taget you slow, a free bkb for initiating the gank so they cant stop you and its basically a free kill. if some how you don't get the kill for example they had wards and hey saw you coming or your team is a failure and wont help a support life stealer and just watch you get counter ganked so you look bad, then that is just your team and **** teir mmr. I cant really help you with solving the problem with bad players and meta followers and trolls and flamers. sorry wish I could.
support life stealer works ok in ranked play just watch for wards because people will actually do it this time and gank gank gank gank gank gank and gank some more. leave your carry to get solo xp and farm up real big just go roam and help get kills people should know what they are doing pick up a few easy camps in between ganks for gold and xp loss. hopefully they didn't random a hero they couldn't play and feed to death.
PROS
.excelent ganker
.very tanky as support
.pretty much unkillable with free life steal
.free bkb ability
.crazy slows and I mean they cant move slows
.awesome awesome awesome ultimate if you have another initiator (ult shiva's open wounds skadi just makes them cry and cry some more)
.yes shiva's and eye of skadi do work together. the active from shiva's is different, the attack modifiers are different, the aura is different. but the slow from the attacks do not stack on top of each other if you keep hitting them they only get slowed for a set amount but all that added together is basicly 100% slow meaning they cant move if you use your open wounds also)
.versitile build. can go full support/tank, semi carry, hard carry, whatever your team needs.
CONS
.early early game pre 6 is difficult
(especially against stuns since rage doesn't last long untill its max level)
.squishy as hell early early game
.again early early game...just be careful don't feed and make dumb mistakes you are fine after 6
you can take camps when you need them just make sure you stack ancients for your real carry or for you if you need to carry later and team is feeding to death. not much else to say here really since I covered it mostly in other sections
hide in your allies when you can and ping them to blink in so you can go absolutely ham and wreck everything but as support you let the carry last hit/kill steal your ownage when you can let him/her since you scale well already and can carry really easy with few items anyways and have alot of utility.
in team fights you want to try to focus the carry in the back since you have rage and can tank through the stuns in the front. if you can not get to the carry then you can just hit away at the person in your face till they run from your life steal and massive heath and armour pool and rage will make them rage literally.
