Regarding the Hood of Defiance, as I stated in my guide, I actually haven't tried it myself, but I've seen other players pick it up, so, I listed it as a choice in the item build.

Hood of Defiance isn't really necessary for him, instead, if you have a good early game, you should rush for the Radiance. At least, that's what I do and it works. The guide is pretty ok, so I'll give you a positive vote, but keep updating and improving it :)
