Introduction

Hi guys, BinHuk here. I've been playing Dota for about three years now and I have played all the heroes respectively. For me, AM is my favorite hero. Simply because, I love his mobility and I saw his potential. I also have experience in inhouse leagues and tournaments. I'm hoping that someday, I'll have a professional career. I also had a 4500-5k mmr but unfortunately, my account was hacked and I didn't get it back. Please bear with me in this guide and I hope it'll help you have fun with Anti-Fun or I rather say, Anti-Mage.

Pros / Cons

+PROS

+ Has high mobility. Able to farm and join clashes simultaneously.
+ Able to reach his ceiling faster than any other carry, thanks to battlefury and his blink ability.
+ Counter heroes with high mana pool. (He hates magic. Haha!)
+ Can turn the tide of the game IF played right.

-CONS
- Squishy in early game.
- Arguably needs battlefury to flash farm.
- Weaker hard carry in late game compared to void etc.

Hard Carry

First, you must know that AM is a position 1 hero or simply known as a hard carry. He needs a lot of farm to buy his items and to be effective.

Skills

Mana Break
Mana Break will give you the edge against many heroes, especially those with low mana pools but who are very reliant on mana such as Naix. Use this to harass in lane, early game. Late game, this will allow you to neutralize heroes very quickly by burning out their mana when coupled with Manta images. (triple mana burn)

Damage type: physical
Deals 0.6 damage per point of mana burnt.
Mana Burn is blocked by magic immunity.
This skill is an Orb Effect.
You can lifeleech the damage dealt by this skill with a Lifesteal aura.

Blink
Blink is your key escape mechanism and almost essentially which makes Anti-mage the carry he is. Few carries have such a great escape mechanism, so make sure to utilize it to its full potential to escape, chase and farm well.

If you used Blink to teleport to a distance over the maximum range, you'll be teleported 4/5 of the maximum range instead.
You can use Blink to dodge incoming projectiles.
Blink has a 0.4 seconds teleportation delay.

Spell Shield
Spell Shield is a shield, allowing you to tank and survive a lot more nukes, which can be crucial in team fights. Note that this will not protect you at all from disables. Beware the sheep sticks!

Stacks with spell resistance items.

Mana Void
Mana Void will absolutely destroy enemy heroes with high mana pools, especially after you've burned them away with Mana Burn. You should generally use it to killsteal as the hardcarry but don't waste the massive amount of damage it can do. As a ministun, it can also break channeling spells- don't forget this when an enemy is teleporting out.

Damage type: Magical
Stuns target for a short while.
Damage is calculated based on the primary target's mana, but applied to all enemies within the AoE.
Stun works on magic immune units.

Items

Power Treads
- The best boots for Anti-Mage, gives cheap stats and attack speed.

BattleFury
- This is Anti-Mage's flash farm item. When you finally get this, you have tons of money in your pocket in just a matter of minutes.

Manta Style
- Anti-Mage's Core Item. It allows AM to push like crazy. Gives good stats and movement speed.

Late Game
- Everybody needs Travel in late game. Abyssal is absolutely game-breaking and tarrasque and BKB is needed in extreme late game scenarios.

Situational Items
- You need drums if your early game is bad, an alternative item. Vladmir's for lifesteal and longer time in jungling and solo roshan. Vanguard if you are being burst quite frequently. MKB for heroes that make you miss or if they bought a butterfly. And las but the least, Daedalus. Who doesn't love crits?

Alternative to battlefury rush

If you game is not going well and you died several times, this is the alternative build before going to battlefury. You can jungle and farm safely while farming your other core items.

Tread Switching

You must learn how to switch treads for different purposes.

Creep Control

You must learn to control creeps to maximize profit and avoid unnecessary pushes.

Be like him

This is a great game by w33. Even though his team fed, he still carried them to victory.

Outro (When Anti-Mage gets farmed...)

I hope that this guide helps you and please remember that when Anti-Mage gets farmed...
