First of all , Thank you for briefing through my guide. If my guide aided your techies gameplay in anyhow, please rate a thumbs up!.
- What's your first perspective on techies after playing with or him in a dota match?
= Well, most players thinks that techies is a soft, paper, hits like a woman, useless hero
Here's where you will change your mind after reading this guide.
First of all, Techies is a hero which is NOT easy to kill , Not easy to avoid and he IS the only hero which can kill any hero, no matter how feeded are the carries with just a detonate button. YES, it rekts all of you. I bet you got rekt so hard by one of them before. Tanky heroes with 6k hp? Boom-dead. Talk about softy carries like weaver (a.k.a the bug)
Second of all, Techies is a real pain in the ***. He creates tons and tons of space for the team but keep in mind. He is a hero that needs space to create more space. Sounds like profit to me. Enemy supports will spam wards and even gems and you know the feel of supporting your *** of and cannot contribute much for the team. Some of you may be thinking- duhhh, this is when techies is so easily countered and he will be useless. NO, its more like hell yeah. Go ward and you might trip some mines while going to ward the place. Or ward and still get bombed . None can ward the whole area even with gem of true sight. sounds dumb but techies is all about mind tricks and playing a fool of the enemy.
Third, Techies IS NOT A BAD FARMER. He can defeat anti-mage in farming without even trying. Level 11 + aghanim's scepter is a 1 hit to all creep wave and you rain in cash.
But for me, i dont farm creeps, i farm heroes with my bombs. Thats taking a whole new level in farming. If you ever think that techies is luck, i get 20+ kills and less than 5 deaths in a game with him. Enemies cry when they see me play techies. No, it is not kills from suicide. It's legit mines and remote bombs kills. Maybe just one kill from suicide as i am stuck in a nasty situation.
Fourth, Techies base damage and health is ****. Yes, it is in the early game and that isn't the reason he s bad at last hitting and finds trouble surviving. That's because you aren't aware enough and get yourself caught in ganks. Getting ganked by enemies are the best for me. I am ever ready with ganks. While enemies are trying to gank me, they get demolished by bombs. You may think that they are stupid that they didn't defuse my bombs, but no, my bombs are unpredictable. Grin at the enemy who tried to lay pesky plans on you as they are not afraid of techie's wrath.
Here's to keep in mind while playing Techies. These are the few important tips to success in Techies. The more aggressive your enemies are, the better you perform. Show them who's boss. Then, the less they are afraid of you, the more that they are gonna let their guard down. This is very true. Imagine if you are in a situation where you have a silence ability and you meet Techies alone ( 1v1 ). You are gonna bully him yes?. He plays some kid's mind tricks on you and you are dead in a sec. Last of all, NEVER GIVE UP. You may not get kills early in the game as it is not going your way. Supports in the team may be defusing your bombs aggressively but it doesn't mean you are a goner. Techies need patience. They will let their guard down after defusing ALOT of bombs from you. This is where you shine. Plant MORE and make sure you hit 20 max stacks of land mines and if you have aghanim's it is even exciting. Prove me wrong, they will trip on your bombs later in the game. If you get early kills, well done! keep on setting your mine field too.
Land Mines- This is Techies MAIN early game secret pwnage tool. It's damage is very devastating and it can destroy any hero in early-mid game with just a number of 3-4 ( early game ) , 4-5 ( mid game ) This ability is OP as shiiiittt. Make sure to max it and plant as much until you reach your max ( 20 mines ). A soul ring and arcane boots should do the job. However make sure you calculate the enemies armor and health if you don't want something like tripping on your hardworked mines and surviving it.
- Destroys towers. Probably you already know this but i dont do it early as you may get caught in trouble. Try not to give enemy vision of you unless you have a trick up your sleeve to bait them to your bombs. An average player will have a 3-4 sec of realizing your bait before retreating or avoiding them.
-Here are some few tips on planting them effectively. Try to plant them in the bushes or fallen leaves in the dota 2 map. Even with a enemy sentry spotting it, it is almost hard to sense unless you look at the minimap with a red dot. Don't believe me? try it.
-Secondly, enemies are likely to estimate your bombs unless you earn their trust. I call it the ultimate magic. If there are techies in the enemy team. You will know there are bombs in the side shop, in your jungle and the runes right? . What if, your teammate's have tripped on it or you went there accidentally and nothing happens? You will give trust to the area almost a 70% trust already. Take advantage as this happens. Plant it there AFTER the enemy know its clean.
-However, if you realize there are some desperate rune pickers in the enemy team like pudge, invoker , queen of pain. Go ahead and plant some there after they took it. Plant an observer on the rune spots just to check on them. 90% it will blew them up. After blowing them up. they will change their rune spots to the opposite rune spots for sure. Go to the opposite rune spots and plant it there before they go there. BOOM 2nd kill and he will be mad as ****
-Here are some very good spots in dota 2. I do not know how to upload the pictures well but i will try to explain the best as i can.
. First good spot, bot lane ( if you are radiant ) plant it early before the game starts just right above the secret shop to the left of the trees. Not in there. To the left above abit.
. Second good spot for destroying roamers ( radiant ). at top, plant it above the staircase where the river is. It is above the 1st tier tower to the right, there is a staircase going down to the top rune. It destroy anyone who tries hard to dive and gank you
. Third good spot is at top ( dire ) to the left of the 1st tier dire tower, plant some above the road where the radiant creeps will walk. Annoying harassers from the enemy will trip it.
. Fourth good spot is at the top ( dire ) just right below the 1st tier tower , below the trees , next to the lanes. Plant mines there and pesky radiant supports who wants to ward or harass from a safe distance ( if they are pushing alot ) will trip it.
. Fifth good spot is at bot ( radiant ) plant bombs above the 1st tier towers, near the staircase of the rive to the bot rune, slightly below, to the left. This will kill enemy supporter's who try to ward there. however try doing this before the game creep wave spawns.
. Sixth good spot is on the radiant ancients ( dire ), try putting some land mines at the staircase which is near to the 2nd tier tower. This is a 80% hit spot
However, most of the placing of mines depends on the hero picks of the enemy and whether they are junglers, supports , roamers . Use their roles for your mine spots. Put all your creative into it. With some creative, hardwork , and some instinct you will get kills easily. Remember, techies is all about HOW you play him.
These skills really have no placing spots. Just put them down whenever your teammates is clashing, for example, and escape route for them with some stasis and remote bombs behind the clash. You can also place a stasis trap and then eul's the enemy in the air. It will trigger when they reach the ground. Combo it with a remote bomb too .
You can actually stun an enemy twice with some practice. When it is set off, Hurry and place another one down. You may not succeed but it is a huge advantage if the enemy cant do anything about it.
- Try planting them down with your remote bombs on some staircase. It is your best bet to trigger it effectively.
Its usefulness usually apply on late game. You may skill it once if your team lack stunners during early.
Many people hate and love this skill. It's like a hate/love relationship. Many techie's players go YOLO mode by abusing this skill. LOL it is certainly fun but may not be good for the team. Use it only if you are in deep ****. ( first bloods are exception ).
This skill can be reduced by vanguard , stout shield , crimson guard and any other items that provides incoming block damage ( physical damage ) . Yes, your land mines is affected too. Heroes like Phoenix who have minimal armor at start will take full damage.
-Use it only to deny enemies's exp
-Use it to safe a teammate.
-Use it in early game to deal nuke damage when getting ganked ( try to give your team carries last hits ).
GERALT OF RIVIA- lel jk ( cant wait for Witcher 3 )
This is your late game killing machine. Keep in mine - lol pun , that THIS skill is very lethal and can destroy *******. Emm.. I mean heroes. YOU CAN KILL Anyone or Everyone with this.
If you are thinkin' that pfft.. If anyone's get killed by techies is a shame. Well, Its an honor :). Why and how so?
The only reason you think getting killed by a techies is a shame it's because you THINK it is easy to avoid. Yeah , i do agree that most of the bombs are easy to avoid. BUT, a real Bin Laden is not pure dumb. They read your movements, ( how frequently you harass them in early game, Where you love to eat tangos , roaming and etc. ) They just have to find the blind spots and set bombs there even if its the most random location ever.
If an enemy player spams gem and sentries. Dont feel useless. Instead, you should feel happy for wasting their time and money. Techies is one of the best space created hero in the game. A gem or sentry doesn't mean you are out of the game. Most guides will tell you to plan it on high grounds... Yeah, that's one part of it but the most important is to read your enemies movements. If a support is carrying a gem, Kill their carries instead. KILL ANYONE who doesnt have a gem or vision of your bombs. When the support are holding gems, They play defensively because they are afraid of losing their precious gem. This makes them almost a ***** in a teamfight. They will stand far away from the team fight. This is where you shine. Place bombs at the escape routes or chasing routes during a team fight. DONT JOIN THE TEAMFIGHT. When enemy carries are retreating or chasing. They will most likely be careless and their gem holder isnt there.
Even though they have vision of your bombs. The bombs will force them to use another path to retreat or chase your teammates. This is where you place another bombs at the other available path before the teamfight. It is most likely not warded there as it will be a not so strategic place to fight but they will have no choice at all. This will make you a better techies when you are being countered by everyone in the enemies team. However, if the gem holder decides to join clashes carelessly, throw your ulti in and dagon his face as you will most likely be the last to be targeted. They will destroy your carries and gankers first before you. However, always plan before a teamfight. A stasis trap make a different !
Things to remember:
- When an enemy gets sentries or gem, It is not the end of your techies demolition plan. It is actually a new strategy to be planned and play a different play style
- EVERYGAME that you play will be countered as a techies. Trust me. So, dont whine about enemy who destroys the hard-worked mine that you place. Instead, Keep em planting as they thought they have defused all of your bombs and they will stop buying sentries.
- Techies is not a useless hero. Get a dagon and ethereal blade and ZAP softies like sniper, vengeful , luna, etc . Combo it with an eul's with stasis and remotes. You will do more than 2k damage to someone. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE about not having the farm to buy those items. With aghanim's and lvl 11, one remote mine is able to destroy creep waves. The only reason you are losing out is because you are busy planning remote mines around and have no time and mana to farm.
- DONT pick a techies if your team have one or more invi teammates in your team. This will ruin you and his gameplay.
