Underused Items

I was just browsing through the items, and I saw two items (aside from Eye of Skadi and Heaven's Halberd) that I have almost never seen actually used before. Veil of Discord and Rod of Atos.

Anyone know why? I haven't really done any research. :P

Also, what's the Shadow Amulet? New item?

Well, Veil of Discord is very often gotten on the huge AoE guys like Sand King. Pop your ult, pop the veil and destroy teams. Shadow Amulet is an item that got added in the 6.75 patch. I believe you read the description, so I don't think I need to explain that. It's often gotten as a first component for the Shadow Blade. Rod of Atos is a newish item, and gotten occasionally on heroes like Silencer and Rubick, the slow being very useful.

Skadi= too expensive for most games
Atos is a good int support item
Veil is picked up on sand king and jakiro mostly
halberd is very situational- i think moreso than any other item

Veil is good on Disruptor as well

Veil of Discord can work on many heroes, Earthshaker, Sand King, Jakiro, and so on. Heroes who tend to deal a lot of damage using their skills.

Veil of Discord works wonders on Zeus too, excellent at "breaking" a Pipe of Insight

Veil of Discord is a really good item - it's just hard to 'use'
there are very few 'nukers' who could justify getting this item over others - everyone has listed zues, sk, jakiro - but I'm pretty sure there are a few core items that take priority like blink daggers, mech's, bloodstone, aganhims etc <- even if you do more damage with a veil over aganims, the other benefits from those few items are already greater. That's the problem!!

Rod of Atos is the same issue - too many core items for an int/support hero which are better, like force staff, eul's, guinsoo etc..

I feel that Rod of Atos is actually a really good item. People just don't get it for some reason. Veil of Discord is just amazing for any hero with lots of aoe damage.

Veil of Discord is gotten fairly frequently, usually after core for nukers.
Rod of Atos: slow sucks compared to things like sheepstick, Eul's, even force staff.

Veil and Rod are solid choices for KOTL as well. They do an decent job keeping his damage ability relevant for mid to late game.
