I just look at skills. Ensnare is a 2/3/4/5 second disable. Half the reason why you would run a defensive trilane is so that you can rotate out supports to gank their mid or safe lane while keeping your carry safe. Insane amounts of disable is essential to getting that job done. That is why Lion is such a common support. Its one of the reasons sure, the main is that his blink initiations are so insane. Support naga siren is probably only possible in a defensive trilane with a strong zoning support, Dude please, the reasons naga siren was such a popular support was because she has strong killing potential in lane and doesnt care about rightclicks because of her armor. That was way more important back then because the pull camp used to be a medium camp, so most of the game was about who could get more out of the early jungle. Alliance was the best at doing that severely helped them win TI3. After TI3 dusl lanes and ganking was made more rewarding and people realised, hey! Support naga is not working as well as before! Lets not firstpick her anymore as a support! because she should be rotating so often. but you will need someone with damage! If you roam her you are pretty much a bad shadow demon/bane since the enemy is still allowed to cast spells, but most importantly HAS A FULL DAMN SECOND TO REACT BEFORR THE DAMN NET EVEN HITS HER. Between you walking in casting range from fog, the casting animation and the travel time, your enemy has MORE THEN A FULL SECOND TO REACT. Ganking any mobile hero is already out of the question just because of that. Plus, you should probably pick her as a couterpick to a Queen of Pain, Anti Mage, does manta dispell it since 6.84? The patch notes say its dispellable now, but it was already a weird exeption spell, so i dont know what spells can dispell it. Its ok against Qop, but you wont catch her often if she still has blink up. or any sort of gankable mid.
There are differences between Wave of Terror and Riptide. On Vengeful Spirit, there is mana to support Wave of Terror, because it only costs 40 at all levels. Riptide costs 110 So? Venge has even less mana. Naga can use a disable and a high damage lvl1 aoe nuke that also does minus armor, and then just needs a smell amount of mana to cast a third, venge can cast her nuke/stun once along with a minus armor spell, and will need a lot of mana to use her one spell she always wants to have up, and yet people dont whine about her not having enough mana. She also doesn't have anywhere better to put her skill points into, because you don't want the aura wat... , you have enough stats, sooooooo naga lacks stats but venge has enough, there is not much logic here. If anything venge benefits more from staying into the fight then naga, and has some ok rightclick to contribute earlygame. and you are already maxing Magic Missile. you always max missile? Thats so 2008 dude.... The skill build on Vengeful Spirit is, I feel, correct. Naga needs early stats though, can't really support the mana cost for Riptide, the magic of arcanes/clarity and that nee delicious fruit! Naga isnt a special case, she doesnt need to spam images as a support. and has no money to spend on those stats. Nor can she support Mirror Image, and you are already maxing Ensnare. This leaves stats, which are very efficient on her due to her high armoryou arent an ogre who needs a massive HP pool to chase and club his opponents down with nukes and stuns... and mana problems, surely those 26 points of mana you get every time you level stats are worth it on a hero that builds arcanes right! Kappa. If you have mana problems that you are bad at mana management. and mitigates her frailness to magical damage. be glad if they use nukes on you instead of your cores, if you mean aoe like dragon slave, well you already have high HP for a support. Although the skills Rip Tide and Wave of Terror are similar, there are reasons for prioritizing as I have. you are looking at riptide like it only increases the damage by 30, but the reason it is that low is because it is AOE for both damage and minus armor. Everytime you use it now you miss the additional damage and minus armor on several heroes since you didnt level it up.
Her starting STR is really good, but her starting HP is rather bad. once again i will counter your random assumptions with numbers and logic, EVERY hero has a base HP of 150 in addition to their starting strength, and naga starts with pretty high HP. Her problem with max HP decreases throughout the game, but I felt it could still use some bolstering. As Naga Siren is indeed an illusion hero with large base movement speed and high armor, the item is very efficient as well. As a item that gives percentage based movement speed and stats, it is, or at least seems and has worked out, exactly perfect. come on, its a bracer + wasted mana item + overpriced 875 gold recepy for 5% ms aura and an active that lasts 6 seconds. The stats do nothing for your since you are a support that mostly sits in the back to use her ult.
On Rubick I tend to get Aghanim's Scepter for raw HP instead of Drum of Endurance, not only because of the upgrade, but because it is an efficient HP item, which is half the reason to buy it. As far as early items, you need something for positioning, such as a Blink Dagger or Force Staff. His Null Field makes HP more efficient as well, but you probably shouldn't get Drums for the HP that he needs, because Aghanim's Scepter is so much better. come on, you are talking about a lategame item compared to an earlygame stat item..... On rubick you will be lucky to get it at 40 minutes after blink force. I dont get this comparison. You dont get items like that for the stats... Or are you the kind of player who 'gets linkens over BKB because the regen is nice?' :P
However, on supports that don't need/don't have/are too poor for an Aghanim's Scepter but instead need early stats like Dazzle and Mirana, Drum all the way. Oh lawd its worse then i thought XD Drums on dazzle and support mira ;_; (ok i could sometimes imagine i on mira, but with the new items not anymore) (i imagine that at this point you might be kind of pissed due to my....... writing style, excuse me for that, i cant write in a non sarcastic way)
As far as Refresher Orb goes, in the late game, Naga has the mana pool to support it, unlike heroes such as Faceless Void who have pitiful INT growths. Her first 15 minutes is the only bad time for her, as far as mana goes. then why not get clarities/mango/arcanes? That solves it. I probably should have clarified, but after that 15 min, her impressive (Roughly) 2.0 Int growth starts to kick in. After that, mana regen becomes more important than stats, because they now no longer such **** and you have to cast Mirror Image] and [[Riptide] to push out lanes. Refesher Orb is there basically for double ulti with Aghanim's Scepter.
"then you havent watched enough naga carry games, i would say now that using refresher is more mana intensive she is better lategame then even void for sure, i would only rank her behind spectre and medusa."
Then it hit me: Naga sucks at teamfighting. How so? lolwut, song2strong.
Then I realized it is, of course, because she is such a rat. She runs around making illusions and pushing out all the lanes, keeping the enemy from leaving the base, creating an ever-increasing lead in net worth, eventually winning you the game. No its because she never even nees to fight, you just take over the map with your illusions. After 30 minutes enemy supports and, depending on what hero he is, the offlaner csnt even deal with a single illusion, and she can farm all 3 creepwaves as soon as they spawn. Unless the enemy has 2-3 very farmed heroes who have a lot of catch, their team is doomed to slowly lose. (fun fact, i once won a game by buying 2 hearts and just sending them at their base untill it died, and tyey had a sniper, doom, and i think a chaos knight to defend. Despite having 2 carries with just 1 otem on our team they didnt stand a chance. That is the power of naga, no hero without latagame utility can best her.
That actually made me think of this:
Late game extension for support naga: Scythe of Vyse ---> Radiance. ihhhhh sure, amazing item on pretty much any hero, but what does it have to do with radiance?
Become the rat god, without even having to be a carry. wait wut? Since you don't like Drums of Endurance anyway, you could possibly just spring for the Ultimate Orb, because they give basically the same thing, although a bit more inefficiently. It is, or should be, possible to rush that core and become that 4th core. I DONT GET IT ;_; WAAT IS THE RST GOD + HEX LOGIC ;_; Your ability to farm the enemy's Jungle without actually even being there makes this significantly easier as well. But how does a +30 minutes hex naga fsrm enemy jungle ;_; ? Are you trying to confus meeee? I should try this. It could be good if you are getting a big lead in the early game through ganks and can afford that fast Ultimate Orb. Even if your team starts to lose later, you can just keep pushing out the lanes from the fountain, making it impossible for them to take high ground. Your illusions can also probably steal enemy creeps and pull them into jungle camps, like Treants. That tends to just stop pushes in their tracks.
Must try this. Some other day. if i see a naga 20 minutes in with arcanes, ultimate orb, and a 1-4-1-1 build im going to report that. XD This took like, 2 hours to write.
I think I overjustified. This was a post about opinions. Is my build good? Probably not. I'm trying to do something very new and experimental, so there are bound to be people that disagree. Not only that, but the build is probably, in some way or another, wrong or only better in certain situations. I'm just trying to bounce Ideas off the community.
Well, yes. That is also the only way that she is currently played competitively, or even at all. However, I'm trying to figure out new ways of playing the hero that are viable.
