When a Hero has (for example) 6 armor, and you apply (for example) slardars ultimate (wich at lvl 3 igives -20 armor reduction).
Does the hero get 0 armor, or does he get -14 armor (and thus taking INCREASED phisical damage?)
The armor value of the target with 6 armor will go down to -14 when hit by a level 3 Amplify Damage, which would, indeed, increase the damage taken by the target. The concept also applies to every single armor-reducing effect in dota (except Natural Order, which reduces a percentage of armor, meaning it will not go below 0 unless another armor-reduction effect is applied).
I really recommend trying it sometime. I hope it will surprise you in a pleasant way just as much as I was surprised.
For those who are intrested:
my starting items are some regen and wards and/or courier, after that just get a Sage's Mask in the side shop and use my stun from time to time to harras and scare them away and kinda spam Wave of Terror for intimidation and for the sight it grants. (Watch your mana tho, Always have a backup stun ready just in case)
by the time you get lvl 6 you should have Boots of Speed, Medallion of Courage, 3points in Magic Missile, 2points in Wave of Terror and 1point in Nether Swap.
This is really all you need for the next 5 to 10 mins. Just go roaming and gank the sh!t out of them.
Engage with a swap and a stun. Aplly both armor reductions and the enemy hero is dead basicly.
Due this "strategy" several enemies I faced left our games cause they wer incredibly outfarmed by the 15min mark. (not to brag or anything, just to proove the effectiveness)
Life is really simple, but we insist in making it complicated.
