I played this game a few days ago with my friends. I mainly want to know how you would have drafted when seeing their picks (i am too lazy right now to tell you what was going through our heads when we were drafting). And I also want to know how you would have dealt with their creep skipping tri-lane.
The latter being the main focus please. I just want to know iff we responded to it correctly, mostly because we thought it was going to be a solo offlane wind.
I would of picked a support that would of synergized better with Enigma in use of his Ult. Like CM. Or maybe of built around the Mirana arrow combo. So Bane or Shadow Demon. But overall a solid draft.
You had good push, counter push, initiation, gank, and team fight potential. Even a decent split push potential with tinker.
I usually don't like building a draft based on countering an enemy draft. At most; you should pick one hero over another to help mitigate the other teams draft.
Biggest mistake by far was taking Enigma in the first round. Very inflexible laning and most of the time invites an aggro tri unless the enemy has already committed to something else (which is why he should be a late pick).
Enemy firstpick Undying is just as big a mistake as Enigma (Undying only works in early 5-man lineups), but the difference is that their captain responded very effectively and yours didn't respond at all, picking mainly gank-and-push heroes against a teamfight lineup that didn't have any easy pickoff targets.
I can understand why some people don't like reactive drafting, but the fact of the matter is that failing to react will lose a lot of drafts and you could lose even if you slightly outplay them.
Seeing that Undying pick, I wouldn't have picked a jungler in the first place as said above: he's a very weak babysitter because he has no big nukes nor disables, so it was either going to be an aggressive trilane or a very weak safe trilane. In both cases, I would've picked a greedy off-laner (which you did) as his lane woudld've been easier. Also, some Heroes to combo Mirana with would've been nice, though not mandatory.
By the way, as you played a dual lane all you could do was waiting for your tier 1 tower to fall and recover after they brought down the tower (at least, that's what I do in these scenarios). Another way to counter a wave-cutting trilane is to pull very early on, so your enemies are forced to either face the tower and get no experience or drag your pulled creep wave back: mind that this won't always work, so don't force it if your support gets caught when pulling more than once.
Before anything else, tell me...why did you Pick Chaos Knight then Ban Io? 8{O
We banned Io because we thought it was going to be a safelane tiny, and we didn't want to deal with that combo. Also, of my friends, I am the only one who would even consider playing Io, and I am still only ok at him.
