I am pretty sure this has been asked before, but how do tiers work? I feel this could be important as it gives a sense of how good you actually are. All the recent Pu12e vs Hades talk about tiers made me wonder.
Ever since the First Blood patch my games on dotabuff all appear to be Normal tier, even though I was always High/Very High. Currently there is no way to check afaik.
You won't be able to tell but I'm pretty sure whatever "tier" you are in is based on your consecutive wins. As your queue time increase, it'll match up whatever player that's available and is also close to your hidden MMR.
I'm just taking a big guess on how the MMR works to answer what tier you're in...
Let's say each game won earns you 5 points and each game lost is 3 points. So if I had 100 wins and 50 losses, my score would be 350 points
Since my points are at 350, the MMR will try to match me with players that's close to this number with similar amount of games played if not then it'll try to match with either similar number of games won or probably percentage.
Sadly if that's true, that would possibly mean if you have a slight losing streak, you will be matched up with and against weaker and weaker teammates and opponents, and you'll probably lose even farther (if your team gets worse), and eventually you'll just combust.

This is true. Might as well get use to it if you are on a losing streak :)
Pu12e, that's kinda depressing lol. I guess I would have to get a Dagon, and maybe a shadow blade, to win those games ;D
I agree. The best way to counter a losing streak is t pick up a quick Dagon or Shadow Blade in your next game. You can use Dagon to quickly take out the carry and you can use Shadow Blade to escape the enemy or even gank an enemy that is trying to jungle. I personally enjoy the benefits of the quick dagon pick up followed by the Shadow Blade soon after :)
