Hi, im a normal dota player, mostly pub player since now. I started to play ranked and i'm now at 3.1k MMR. I thought i'd like to climb as a support.My questions :are Abbadon, Cm, Venge and Lich good at 3k? They are preety easy heroes to play, with really high win rate. And what should i focus most when i play support at 3k?
Thanks.

Now abaddon, venge and CM are three very different kinds of support.(well atleast in my perspective. Though of all of ther supporters present to choose from I would chose from abaddon because he is versatile but most importantly he is durable. This means that during teamfights you will survive longer therefore allowing you to be able to support for as long as possible. (My opinion)

Sincerely

Hey undeadsasuke34,

Abbadon, Crystal Maiden, Venge, and Lich are all viable, albeit entirely different.

I'd say some things to focus on (you should probably only focus on one per game) are:

1) Watching the minimap more
2) Timing rosh, items, and important cooldowns
3) Using scan efficiently
4) Positioning

etc etc.

If you want to improve positioning you should check out these guides made by BigMonMulgrew on youtube:

Lane Positioning Guide

Teamfight Positioning Guide

He also makes guides on some heroes (including Crystal Maiden) and how to counter some heroes.
Hero DPS and EHP Spreadsheet coming soon.

Those picks are fine, just make sure you choose between them appropriately for the game in hand - who are your cores, who are your opponents, how much farm will you get etc.

My general tips would be:

- Communicate with your team. As a support you're reliant on them to get stuff done. Even just pings and chat wheel is enough most of the time. PING PING CAREFUL - PUDGE IS MISSING ("I just saw him on the minimap and you're gonna be getting hooked in about 10 seconds").

- Make sure you're warding and providing detection when needed. Item timings should be low on your agenda as a support.

- Make sure you're active and effective during the early game. Don't just sit around your lane if nothing is happening and you aren't needed. Your job as a support is to get your carry into shape to solo, then leave them alone and go be effective somewhere else.

- Always carry a TP, keep an eye on the mini-map and turn up to fights.

- Grab a few last hits if the opportunity arises - NEVER compete with your team for them, but try to get a bit if things are quiet, mid is roaming etc.

- Make sure you understand the builds (skills and items) for your choices, and can change up as necessary.

- Remember you're a pub support. This is a different thing from pro support. Your team will often make stupid picks, try your best to compensate for them, and be ready to have to solo all of the support costs.

- Be ready to pick heroes with really low item needs ( Lich being a prime example). Be ready to buy cheap items to help you out ( Infused Raindrops, Urn of Shadows, Tranquil Boots, Clarity potions etc).

- Don't expect to buy anything more expensive than a Glimmer Cape or Force Staff in most games unless your team is rolling, or heaven forbid actually has 2 supports.

Not a good support player by any margin but I think I can tell you a couple of things that even support mains on my rating don't seem to realize and do consistently.

Skipping the basic stuff like don't stand behind your carry and always have a tp and don't tp to towers from base unless someone's getting ganked or your mid needs an emergency bottle refill and don't let the offlaner drop a camp block ward/deward it asap(esp. now that sentries are 100g per piece and you get full refund) etc.

- Don't camp your safelane. Almost all caries that are in the meta right now are failry self-sufficient and can easily lane against most solo offlaners once they get 1-2 levels ahead. Once you think your carry can handle it alone without sacrificing a lot of lasthits or running out of regen(or if they explicitly tell you to leave their lane and start being useful), get a tp, optionally ward the cliff near enemy's offlane T1 so you and the carry can see rotations and tps to shrine and tower), optionally get another ward to place mid/enemy safelane, probably get a smoke and go **** with other lanes.

Same goes with other lanes rly, your priorities are to:

1)Secure your core hero(like core-core, it may be mid and not safelane) a lane;
2)Make enemy core hero lose their lane;
3)**** with other lanes;
4)Rice(afk on pulls, go jungle or bounty rune world tour etc.);

- If you feel especially cruel, follow the enemy offlane into their secondary jungle if you manage to zone them out. Sap their exp from jungle creeps, steal their lasthits and rune, force them to use shrine. Just make sure you got the cliff ward so you can see shrine tps and enemy offlaners movements.

- Before the start of the game, buy a tp. After you pool tangos and ward, immediately tp to your main jungle shrine and ward the enemy cliff near their offlane tier 1. This ward is ****ing fantastic, especially vs dire, it's pretty much mandatory.

- Never just stick a ward to stick a ward. Often supports in my games stick wards in random places with little to no purpose and then we suck **** because we have no map control(because obs are out of stock and those that exist are awful). Conversely, always stick a ward near the objective you're going to be taking(super important, if my supports did this every game we'd win way more often). There are the best spots+alternatives for every objective but I'm too lazy to draw them on the map, sry. Just watch some high mmr replays and see them yourself.

- Same with sentries, ALWAYS stick a sentry nearby at the start of every engagement, including tower pushes. Again, if supports did it every time i swear slark'd have smth like 40% winrate at most)

-Item priority:

1)Vision;
2)Stuff that lets you not die instantly or make enemies commit to kill you(Balanced Drops, Glimmer, Ghost, Windlace, Force);
3)Stuff that boosts your team generally or some specific core greatly(Veil, Solar, Pipe, Mek(super rare), Lotus);
4)Stuff that boosts you(most notably Midas and specific items that suit your hero very well(Blink Lion, BKB Bane/Cm, Lens and Aghs on like 50% of supports, Eul's Jakiro etc.);
5)Dagon 5;

- If your team is completely ******ed and you can't get them to gather and take objectives, get an item from category "2" and a Midas and just rice and hope that you can carry your *****. Don't forsake vision, but don't put such an emphasis on it either.

-A lot more stuff that I forgot, this should be enough for now anyway.

Another tip if you want to improve warding; Create a custom lobby for yourself and enable cheats and disable bots. Pick any hero and use these chat commands:

-wtf
-disablecreepspawn
-item blink
-item observer

Then use this one as many times as needed:

-teleport

And to remove all wards:

-killwards

You will have infinite wards and no cooldowns because of -wtf.
Hero DPS and EHP Spreadsheet coming soon.
