Heroes now in meta.

Can you give me a couple examples of heroes now in meta by role? I haven't been playing dota for months, so i don't know. Thanks !

I agree. There is virtually an invoker every game. There was a time when invoker wasn't picked as much. I want that time back :C
Same for spectre.
I seriously don't think pudge would ever go out of meta however.

Alright, welcome back. I'll first list out some of the "pub meta" heroes.

Mids: Invoker, OD, Zeus. Death Prophet to a lesser extent.
Left the Meta: Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend
Would be a lot more viable if not for the top 2 Meta Mids: DK, Puck, Kunkka

Carry: Spectre, Sven, Juggernaut, Ursa, Slark

Offlane: Enchantress, Faceless Void, Lone Druid + Beastmaster (rarer, but still surprisingly numerous for those heroes), Nature's Prophet (jungling prophet has died down a bit), Nyx (in response to the Meta Mids)

Supports: Earth Spirit, Lion, Bounty Hunter, Omniknight, VS

Utility: Enigma

Pub Staples: Legion, Pudge


Now, lemme add this, Dota has been making itself more and more team based, that's why in this patch, Invoker is not nearly as broken as the meta heroes of a few patches ago (Doom for 6.85, Storm for 6.84, and Troll for 6.83), since he is a lot less likely to carry games on his own. Rather, in this patch, what is broken is hero combos.

Broken Hero Combos: Spectre/Zeus, Omniknight/OD

Doom and Chen are decent junglers as well as Enigma. The latter isn't that popular in pubs because he's still Chen, but Doom has been pretty popular at high level pubs from what I've seen.

Batrider is in in pro play as well, as is Oracle in the support role.

Aside from the obvious Outworld Devourer and Invoker being very "balanced".

I haven't seen anyone quite mention Morphling. Morphling didn't get buffed as much as those 2 but he still got buffed nevertheless and Morphling is actually viable-ish again.

Increased adaptive strike damage, increased morph rate, and buffed E-Blade.
