Please watch this match and tell me what I did right and wrong. The enemy outlevelled us and almost beat us but we opened up top lane. The build I was going for was Treads, Mekansm, Ring of Aguila, Agh's, Wand, and Orchid Malevolence. So... What do you think?

P.S. and yes, Juggernaut sucked.

EDIT: Our ancient was at like 1/4 health and dropping when I destroyed the enemy's. Just under an hour long so only watch it if you lots of time.

Ok, I didn't watch it, sorry, but I can tell you a bit about your build.

Did you go mid? I assume so. And considering your line-up, I will also assume you played more of a support role.

Generally I tend to max Nethertoxin over Poison Attack simply because it give more damage. I also dislike the fact that your max Corrosive Skin last, because it gives magic resistance, which is only effective mid-game where spells deal the most damage, and the slow make you a lot more survivable.

I again assume you went Treads>>Aquila>>Mek>>Agh's. I'm a bit confused as to what the staff was for, though...

The staff was going towards an Orchid Malevolence. It's not necessarily the best on Viper, but situationally I thought it a good choice. I also tend to max Nethertoxin first, but I was laning against Sand King and thought that Poison Attack would help to establish good lane control.

Oh...

No, Poison Attack is for the slow, not the damage.

Who were you trying to silence?

I was trying to silence Spectre. The whole game he'd use Haunt, then Reality into whichever one was near an isolated player. Desolate would then proceed to destroy them. The silence was to remove the effects of Desolate, while the 25% amplified damage helped to kill him without the effects of Dispersion.

Also, I know Poison Attack is for the slow. If I can slow him then get a lot of damage in, he'll run pretty far back and lick his wounds, thus missing out on farm. Unfortunately, he'd akways disappear into a dust cloud.

I think you just lost because you didn't have any supports lol

EDIT:
Not counting the weird lanes and bad picks, there are a few things you could have done to make the game smoother for your team:

As you can see, Undying also bought a mek, so you shouldn't have bought another one. I'm sure you know that mek doesn't stack :3.

There is no point buying orchid against the Spectre. Manta or diffusal removes the silence debuff. Silence doesn't even really stop Spectre from doing her thing.

One item that you should have bought instead of those 2 is a Black King Bar. They have a lot of disables and magic damage output, so this would have been a far better item to get in your game.

yeah, Manta would have been a better choice. And if you were around to save a team-mate, then they wouldn't alone, would they?

I'd rather choose Heart of Tarrasque over Manta Style. Just way more tankyness, and Viper does not need the illusions.

We didn't lose. I snuck up top and took out the Ancient while Spectre took ours down to 200 health. Like I said, it was a close game.

As for the Meks, we bought them literally at the same time. We were both at base and I bought it and I see the thing in the bottom right that shows he bought it too. It worked out OK, though, because he did more of a solo thing and I went with the team, and when his was on cooldown, i could use mine.

Here are the points I noticed about your build..

1. Against a Sand King, Gyrocopter, Lion and Razor why did you not build a Black King Bar?!!?!

2. Your skill build is not my favorite. I would have gone with 1 level in Poison Attack for harassment and chasing, and maxed out Nethertoxin and Corrosive Skin since the passives are what makes Viper such an awesome tank/teamfighter.

3. Your XPM and GPM seem way too low.. I assume you were against a Razor in mid. If you picked Viper after your enemy picked Razor, it was a bad pick, since Razor is one of the few heroes that counters a Viper in lane. However, if your enemy picked Razor after you picked Viper, you can still try to win your lane by going boots first. Instead of going for a starting Wraith Band, go for Tango and Boots of Speed. The Boots of Speed would help you break the Static Link more easily if the Razor doesn't go boots first item. Once you break the Static Link, harass him down. As for build order, I generally prefer rushing the Mekansm after brown boots, and going for Power Treads after I complete the Mekansm.

As for your item build, it was OK except for the lack of a Black King Bar. Also, there is no reason to go for an Orchid Malevolence on a Viper. Instead, a Heart of Tarrasque would have been a much better option, or even a Pipe of Insight since the enemy team was high on AOE magic damage.

P.S: I saw from your replies that you were laning against a Sand King.. If this was the case, the enemy was stupid not to put Razor against you in mid. Next, harassing a Sand King is child's play for Viper.. He shouldn't even get a last hit against you in lane.. Since he is melee, harass the hell out of him whenever he comes close. He would have to Sandstorm to get last hits. At that point, you need a lane sentry, so you can outright kill him.. You didn't need the extra Poison Attack points.. Just one point into it, and orb walk him to death..
