Gawr Gura is a melee Strength Carry who specializes as an evasion tank, able to dodge both attack and spell damage through perfect timing of her skills. While her ability-set makes her look like an Agility hero, with all her attack-centric buffs and her built-in mobility, she is designed to be more like a disruptive initiator and tank. Her job is to jump in enemy positions, grab their attention, and leave them vulnerable for her allies to follow up. The only difference is that while a conventional tank resist and reduce damage, Gura would prefer to dodge them. While she can still be built as a traditional right-click carry (and you definitely can!), keep in mind that she scales off of strength and that she has 1.8 BAT.

Her ultimate,Shark Call is a reliable, low-cooldown initiation tool where Gura chases an opponent like a shark through water, emerging out with a stun. She thenTrounces on her prey, becoming untargetable as she claws her opponent unable to shake her off. Gura also brings with her thePower of Atlantis, where a vortex of whirlpool deals damage and pulls enemy to her, slowing their escape. By this point, her victim would be severely wounded if not already dead and their allies will be out for revenge, faced with undesirable odds, Gura remainsLimber enough to dodge both spells and attacks so she can escape unharmed.

PRoS
  • Has evasion, spell-block, untargetability, and invulnerability: Granted these buffs are short-lived. But with perfect timings, she can completely shrug off many forms of offense.
  • Flexible item choices: With her skills being good complements of each other already, Gura doesn't have to worry too much about a crucial item. Instead she can focus on utilities that depend on the circumstances of the game.
  • Gets in, deals damage, and gets out: Her abilities combo in such a way that gives her plenty of opportunities when to commit to a fight, or when to escape it. Thus, she can basically control the pacing of the game!
CoNS
  • Lacks disables and front-load damage: Shark Call is her only disable in the form of a short stun. And while she can do some damage, all of it require her to get close and take some time, which gives enemies a lot of options how to handle.
  • A Strength hero with one of the lowest strength gain at +2.5: The winners would be Lifestealer and Undying (with +2.4). While her starting strength is good, she may have to rely more on her skills the later it is in the game.
  • Very lackluster if not played correctly: Three-out-of-four of Gura's abilities require her to place herself in unfavorable positions. Any misplays could easily get herself killed. Not to mention she's countered by silences and roots.

Gura's unnatural speed allows her to instantly lunge herself forward, disjointing projectiles and leaving behind a short-lived after-image illusion that redirects 1 targeted spell away from Gura and into it. Gura also gains increased evasion and haste for a short time.

Gura rides a shark into the ground, becoming hidden, invulnerable, and hasted with free movement. However, she can only move in this state. Upon emerging, the shark stuns and damages enemies in an area with a powerful bite. If the shark bit an enemy Hero, Gura turns Red, increasing her attack damage, and attack speed.

Gawr Gura can be built as either a right-clicking carry or as a durable offlane depending on the draft or the circumstances of the game. In both cases, Gura is best taken on the position 2 or 3 with the same vague playstyle of "get in, deal damage, and get out".
