Bane and Lina

I played this lane once as Lina almost by accident...but boy was it effective. It's not one I've really seen before or since, but it would seem to have definite potential as an off-lane spoiler.

The lynchpin of this strategy is Nightmare. It has a long disable time, even at low levels, and even inflicts a little damage (20 per second). It also makes it very easy for Light Strike Array to hit. Both heroes have a reasonable ranged attack too.

The big problem with Nightmare is that you can't auto-attack someone under it's influence without it transfering to you...HOWEVER, you can still target the person with spells...

Assuming both players max their nukes, even without their right clicks (safe to assume you would get a few in as the enemy tried to retreat):

- At level 2 their combo has 360 damage (270 MR)

- At level 4 it has 580 damage (435 MR)

- At level 6 it has 1660 potentially (1245 MR)

3 levels in Dragon Slave = 230
2 in Light Strike Array = 150
3 in Brain Sap = 230

Don't you guys think that the Suggested Items kind of "force" new players to use them? Because, let's face it; in Dota, if you don't know anything, you're dead meat. So new players usually opt for whatever the suggested items say. The reason they use it is probably because they don't know any better, and I admit that they are good, (in a sense that they touch most of the aspects of the heroes) but it limits their creativity with items, leading to the cookie cutter builds.

There been a lot of talk lately about overpowered heroes - new ones are coming in, existing heroes reworked and rebalanced.

DOTA is an incredibly difficult ecosystem to balance - there are so many heroes, powers and items - any hero can be overpowered in the right situation...the real key to whether something is OP or not is HOW MANY situations they're very strong in, and how easily/effectively you can counter them.

The other difficulty is the wide range of skills that the game has to fit across - some heroes with ridiculous micro or skill-shots might be overpowered in Pro games...but very ineffective amongst beginners. Some heroes only work well with good team-work and co-ordination from other players. At the end of the day the rules have to be the same for everyone though...

X Hard Carry is overpowered

We've all had those games where Faceless Void or Anti-Mage gets fed, or your team spends the whole time trying to outfarm him and fail massively. It can seem unfair where the …

I was playing matches with some friends yesterday when we found about a really fun and effective strategy for Spirit Breaker and Lifestealer.

Spirit Breaker starts in the short lane(next to the jungle) while Lifestealer jungles to level 6.

Once both get to level 6 they can become a gank bus. Lifestealer uses his Infest and gets inside of Spirit Breaker. Spirit Breaker then uses his Charge of Darkness to charge anywhere on the map and hit an enemy hero. Once Spirit Breaker makes contact Lifestealer jumps out and hits them for ~400 damage. Spirit Breaker then uses his Nether Strike to stun the hero some more and between the two of them most heroes will be squished.

We started having trouble with this when the teams started roaming together. The gank bus does not work very well against more than two heroes.

I’ve played over a 100 games, and all of them with Sniper. I believe I’ve developed a build and playing guide for him, not unique, but definitely very powerful. Play him right, and you surely will be the best player, not just on your team, but throughout the whole match.

Following are the items and skill building i would recommend for you, my fellow sniper:

Skill Build

Level one, four, five : Take Aim

I suggest this right away, as it can give you that advantage over your opponent by being able to keep a longer distance from them, and yet be able to damage them, while their range won’t suffice to damage you in return.

Level two & three : Headshot

This although wouldn’t give much of a bonus early game, it is still better than shrapnel. I wouldn’t suggest leveling up shrapnel till the last, when there’s nothing else. It’s not damaging enough and is a mana waste than you could spend on Assassinate instead. So level up Headshot second and third.

Level 6: No doubt here.

It…
