I always see them as a carry normally(especially WK sven is better at supportign because his cry and his aoe stun)
They work well as supports - except they don't work in a dual lane where your lane partner is a passive melee hero ( Spectre etc.) . Roaming, trilane, aggro dual lane or dual laning w. a ranged carry work really well. Can't really say which one is the better support as they offer different things: Sven AOE disable and AOE armor+ MS buff, WK insane tankability, AOE slow and lifesteal aura. Both offer lots of DPS lategame so which one is "better" is entirely situation-dependent.
Wraith King, Sven,

Off topic- So many dotafire people play support! WOW!
It's because we care enough to search the Internet for a community to help improve our gameplay!
honestly no.
mmr is all about winning and supports win games. This isnt directed at you but i have coached a fair few people who have been around 2k (1.8-2.2) and they always say
"i always support but my carries are nubs and dont do anything and we lose then they flame me for having no items or not saving them when they are out of position why is it that i get noob carries"
and ive coached carries at the same mmr and they say the same thing just swap carry with support.
so i played with the support guy as a carry.
buy wards? yes
buys dust? yes
doesnt take last hits? yes
uses his skills decently? yes
stacks camps? sometimes
harass enemy? sometimes
is a help during teamfight sometimes
why they are still 2k???
they buy wards but dont place them correctly or they go to place them when the creep lane is pushing our tower, then they move through areas where they could get ganked and die.
they buy dust but are never in the lane where it is needed
they dont take last hits but they dont take them when they are able to, carry die? last hit
they use teir skills right but usually at the wrong time or on the wrong person. a lot of kills or teamfights are won by the support using the right skill on the right person at the right time.
stacks camps? sometimes but only if asked and never regularly, my supports always stack hard and small camps then when lane is pushed at 3:30 they rotate through jungle and stack hard and hard at 4mins they gank mid
harass enemy? yes but they do it in such a way that draws aggro or puts them out of position or they do it without checking the enemy laner to see his regen "i only have 3 tangoes while he has a slave and 8 tangoes " dont trade!
are they a help during the teamfights? sometimes being a +2k support means you know WHAT to do and how to move in a team fight track the use of spells and abilities keep breaking vision or sacrifice yourself to disable that hard carry for the kill.
i used to think like you guys, but i now know through climbing the scrub ladder that honestly..... 90% of the time, you could be better.
as for the other 10% i write those games off and have fun.
I coach people all the time on how to carry and support. One of my pet peeves is ALWAYS WARD THE RIVER!! No. You want to ward where you are going to be. I've looked at many guides for warding and basic support stuffs. That's why I rarely play carry because I need to play support and ward our base when it's 70 min in instead of the river. Btw the guide was on this site and search it on google it's easy to find
Dude don't copy what Nubtrain wrote (typed?) He's a cool dude.
I am not sure if you got it, mate.
If I were him, I'd just mute and focus on improving because I guarantee they don't even know the basics. 8{3

If you want to play support in 2K or lower games, (well, someone has to) I propose playing supports that have (semi-)carry potential such as Lina, Silencer, Wraith King, Sven, Vengeful Spirit, etc.
If you truly are stuck then switch to playing mid or any core role and see how much better (if at all) your team is doing.
This way if everyone sucks you can still rock if you manage to scrape together farm somewhere (kills). Always keep TP:s to "clean up" messy fights and smoke gank mid. At this level they should be wardless and often clueless.
Yeah I've started to play Sven pos. 5 and I usually end up pos. 1. I'm still the only person to buy wards, courier, and smoke/dust. XD
If I were you, I'd just mute and focus on improving because I guarantee they know nothing beyond the basics.
