When is it ok to Abandon?

Gyarados FTW
I remember a game where I was a support and my carry was just being... well, a douche. I would even give him tangoes when he demanded them at full health, and he just made being lane support miserable. The rest of my team, of course, was on his side. To spare myself the torment of remembering that game I'll sum it up. Everyone was yelling and flaming me and just made me want to quit Dota altogether. Thankfully I hadn't abandoned a game recently and when I did I received no LP games. I rarely abandon unless it's a case like that and I usually mute and stick it out. Anyone else been in this situation? Was it wrong for me to abandon my team for my own selfish feelings? I always value your input!
except mass reporting
I hate it that you can only report 3 players a day because sometimes I want to report a whole enemy team or other reasons you cross the 3 reports fast (Okay if they remove thwe limit there is a chance I will report all russians on the english server XD)
Well said., my good sir. I am sure that will go down in a history book of dota 2 someday.
Indeed.
The power of muting talkative ********s is a breath of fresh air

If your team is "just" sucking and you're playing 1 vs 5 dota, it's still possible to win. High MMR players and professional players do that all the time, winning games on their own with zero impact teams.
If your team is "just" being *******s you can simply mute every single one of them. Sweet, sweet silence :)
So as long as your team is not deliberately trying to lose the game, there's still something you can do.
You might be better off posting these topics over on the forums, people tend to reply more.
Personally, I never abandon (I have about 2-3 in 2000+ games, all technical issues), much as I may sometimes feel like it.
I remember a similar incident laning with a carry, we almost got a kill but didn't quite line up the abilities quite right due to lack of comms (that's what happens in pubs with people you don't know!). Guy rages over mic a stream of horrible invective. I just replied "Don't speak like that to people who are trying to help you", muted/reported him, left the lane and roamed. I try to play for the team, maybe I don't always get everything right, but I ain't putting up with abuse like that. No argument from the team at all.
If you're with a 4 stack or something, just mute everyone and play the game as you see fit. At the end of the day it's a game, it's meant to be fun. Anybody being that unpleasant doesn't deserve the time of day, and you shouldn't suffer through it - mute is your friend.
Well played sir. I SHALL GO TO THE FORUMS WITH TOPICS SUCH AS THIS!!!!
