but still i am a newbie as a warlock please advise me, here's my playstyle based on my items and skill learned!!
Early time
Items
- Courier
- 2 Iron Wood Branch
- Spent all the rest of the money for MP potions
Skills
- Focus on Shadow Words and Fatal Bonds
Mid Game
Items
- Mekans
- Arcane Boots
- Observer Wards
- Depend on the situation i will try to farm for a Shadow Blade
Skills
- Shadow Words and Fatal Bonds Maxed
- Chaotic Offering is on
Late Game
Items
- Refresher Orb
- Aghanim's Scepter
- If the fight goes on there will be a Shiva's Guard in my inventory
Skills
- Chaotic Offering Maxed
- Upheaval on the roll
- Sometime i when the game goes too fast or i think it will end soon, i won't bother my self to take Upheaval.
Am i doing ok?? Or it seems uncommon playstyle for a warlock??
Hello, im still new in dota 2, recently i found that playing warlock is kinda fun, so im been playing most game using him, so my build in skills are max shadow word first, then fatal bond, ulti at lvl 6,11,16 and upheavel when lvl10. Is that build ok?
In item build, im making ring of basillius first, then meka, then arcane boots, veil of discord and lastly pipe, if i get extra money i make either force staff or scepter.. Is my item build are also ok or not?
This is a great guide, however I'm also a fan of grabbing a clarity or two before laning as I feel it really helps with fatal bonds harass.
With that in mind, I am a reformed Aghs+Refresh orb rusher, so I really can't talk about item builds at all haha.
Thanks again, +1 and all, possibly the best guide i've read on any hero.
Well, the way of playing Warlock has changed a lot in the past few months: competitive players actually rush Agh's and Refresher, but it's kind of a situational pick as you need to be against a passive mid laner. Thanks for your feedback!
Nice guide, I have seen solo mid warlock in some Dignitas games recently, He maxed his shadow word and only got 1 in bonds, ult at 6 and some into stats. From what i could see the extra levels and the early mech for the team possibly make him a better mid then a 5th position ward *****.
I've seen that match too, but honestly I think that at least 3 points of Fatal Bonds are mandatory. Generally speaking, his role in that game was pretty weird: he completely skipped Upheaval if I'm not wrong and he had a lot of farm.
Overall, the "warding" role for him is completely viable but the Mekansm is definitely better (that's why I put it in the first tab); if you're mid though, the only important thing is maxing out Shadow Word as soon as possible. The skill order of the other abilities may vary, but I personally prefer maxing out Fatal Bonds (or putting at least 3 points in it) and then Upheaval, unless the latter is not needed/too risky because the enemy team is full of stuns or AoE nukes/ultimates.

Oh, I get meka and arcane boots first, and a vlads for a melee heavy team if need be, then those, but yes i have never played competitively and i usually only last hit from creeps, sometimes it happens though.

I usually run the:Carry Warlock when playing: Desolator+ Mekansm. As meka is as valuable to ranged units as is Vanguard to melee ones.
Also, pairing out Warlock with Earthshaker or Sand King would often mean the end of a teamfight before it even started.

Thanks for your reply. :-)

You should consider adding him to your friends list.
