The Protagonist

I know Dota is a Moba game with no main character, but I was wondering.

If Dota was like a traditional fantasy game, who would you say the main character would be?

I'm leaning towards Drow Ranger, given how she doesn't have incredible powers in lore, like Storm Spirit or something, and she doesn't seem to have explored much of the world. I guess other naive characters like Crystal Maiden would fit too, but really super cheery female protagonists are not to my personal tastes.

Also a candidate would be Tusk for his kind and boisterous nature, which seems like it would convert well into a RPG as a hero.

And my last nomination is Rubick, because he's got a connection to a major figure (Aghanim's Son) and is driven by curiosity. Also awesome personality too.

What do you think? Who is the main character of the Dota world in your mind?

dota doesnt really have a main character in the Traditional sense.

you would need a male human between the ages of 16-24

he would have to be incredibly underpowered during the early levels of the game but possess skills that come late game make him overpowered more so then any other hero.

he would require skills that require help allies yet at the same time also help those allies.

he would have to have the worst stat growth for one stat yet have the highest stat growth in his primary attribute.

he would have to have a limiter placed upon him, say... he needs an item before he can use his ultimate or along those lines.

he would need to have a quest story/revenge story/searching story

in my mind the closest you get to that is ... i have no idea.

skywrath fits some but not all

dragon knight is i guess close.

but honestly there isnt one.

tusk is a support character (not in game but in the traditional narrative sense)

rubick would be close but he would be a event/plot driver/exchange mechanism

drow definitely isnt one, she isnt really any of those.

crystal maiden is a support character or a quest driver.

Sven actually or juggerenaut is incrdibly close i feel but they dont have everything.

i ahve no idea. haha

He is weak early game and requires some items to become effective.

He relies on his team in the beginning, then carries at the end.

He could have some good character development. A little selfish and hateful of magic, he would be playing alone and denying any help from his spellcasting support teammates. Later on, he realizes that he can't do it without them, and he would become a changed man at the end that doesn't hate magic (as much) and cares about his team. Then he carries the **** out of his weak teammates and wins the game, then they share smiles and laughs.

Completely fits the 'Revenge Story' thing, and he learns that not all magi are bad and lets go of his vengeful feelings.

There was anti mage's old lore where he was told that he is the chosen one. As a corllary it was shown how illidan was jealous from him and turned bad.
Protagonist is hands down magina. What makes me curious is who the antagonist would be?

Probably the King of Magic. Lich? Aghanim? Rubick, even?

Nah.
He must be from dire as magina fought evil.
Dead god can be 1st lvl boss where magina gained blink.

I think harbinger OD is good boss against magina because he is the 'harbinger of bad news and whats to come' and **** lile that. Plus he uses magic in purest form.

Oh, we're moving onto Antagonists?

Alright, Anti-Mage is our hero? Doom would probably be the Big Bad, but he won't be fought because in lore, he's the Devil and all. I think Terrorblade being the villain to Magina's story works because in Dota 1 they're brothers, so its a good nod to that.

Anti-Mage's rival would probably be Invoker, an egomaniac, but not really "evil" compared to real bad guys like Terrorblade and may even help AM at some point.

Now I want this to be a thing.
