So... I was thinking about Skywrath Mage's ultimate Mystic Flare. It's a pretty neat ulti, with it's cool sound effects (woosh, pew pew pew pew) and flashy visuals but it seems as though it has more style than it does substance. With a ludicrous 800 mana cost for an ultimate you can simply dodge by taking two steps to the side (or by using Blink or Force Staff if you want to be fancy). Then there's the scepter upgrade... that reduces the cool down to zero, big woop in my mind, meaning you can cast two or three ultis in rapid succession of each other... if you have full mana. So, what I want to know is, how can I make the most of Mystic Flare in a match and what items would go better with Skywrath Mage than Aghanim's Scepter?
If you are being a support, don't even dream of getting Ag's. Build team focused items like Force Staff before an Ag's.
Yeah, I would even add that you should neverg get aghs on him unless you're like a two or higher. (mid or just as full core). Basically when you're higher than 2 you need to think for ganks and supporting a bit more since you won't have the farm and also won't have the manapool or items to solo cores.
Well I mean, the idea is that either you aim the thing so the opponent either takes a lot of damage going through it, or has to step in a direction he doesn't want to go (So area denial.) And that's only assuming you don't have a set-up partner. Anyone with a stun can basically garuntee you the massive burst, which means you get a huge amount of burst potential, which is great for pick-offs.
If you are a core Skywrath, then Bloodstone is a good shout. I know that Rod of Atos gets considered somewhat as well just to make you less squishy and the like.

I would always get scythe of vyse over hex. Pretty much on every hero apart from timbersaw.
Simply because bloodstone doesnt have the utility of most intellegence items. On top of that hex gives INT instead of mana, so it also increases your arcane orb damage. The bloodstone HP is far inferior to the hex ability. Which in turn helps you get off mystic flare with its slow and stopping your enemies from using BKB.
But most of all if you have a hard time using your ultimate, wait for your allies to use their disables. Dont just throw your ult at fight sight of an enemy. Silence him, and once he is slowed enough or disabled let it rip.

Tbh I think that if you're ahead in the game, like really doing great, I dont think sheep stick is that helpful if you have a couple of levels over the enemies, but I never realized that, and it obviously must be good on sky, I'm not a really a sky picker.
I think the only big INT item that also gives good mana regen is Scythe of Vyse. Bloodstone can be good, but that would be at a point where you've basically won the game anyways and just want to roll over the opponents for the lulz.
Legion's use is obvious, he win's all Duel's. Faceless you just aim for, either, the tank or a squishy dude Faceless isn't hitting.
I used to take him a lot, but he is definitely not for every game. If there is a Riki, Clinkz or Bounty Hunter avoid him. They feed of him all game long!
