While a was playing with friends, one guy randomly gave a really lulzy yet somewhat true definition of carries in dota and I'd like to share that wisdom with you.
He said:
"Carries are *****es that need to get payed to act like ****s."
People playing supports in random pubs with random guys going 2-3 hard carries, asking you to let them farm, harass, get wards and chicken and to not feed know this better than anyone else.
Even a warped mind can see the odds stacked against it!
Playing a carry doesn't mean you are a ****. It's just a role. The carry needs the farm, and the support helps his team out. Carries are the most picked, because players tend to like the fame of getting kills, but they are really just 1/5 of the team.
The carry should have more kills than other classes, but it all balances out in the long run. for the tank or support heroes, you will get more assists than other roles. But, that's all part of the teamwork that is needed to win a game.
I see this happen more often than I care to recall: the carry feels that he doesn't need to wait for the team, or doesn't help in team fights. This makes the rest of the team suffer due to lack of gold. In the end, the team loses the match, regardless of how many kills the carry has. This is because as atlas said the carry is 1/5 of the team, not the whole team(even though most of the time newer carries like to think they are).
My post was meant to be a joke, it's in correlation to the type of people that usually pick carries in pubs and their way of seeing things and what a player trying to train support has to go through in that wilderness, but I guess that applies better in dota1 garena than dota2 so it's no wonder you people don't really get it.
Anyway, here's a comic to further illustrate.

yeah hate those kinds of carries. full supports w/ greedy carries most of the times are squishy. i'm actually against this "babysitting" in pubs.
what i was told when playing is "keep up or be left behind." whether you are a carry, tanker, or carry, if you do not perform well, it might make your team lose or you end up without having any presence in the game.
oh and anyone having zero kills in a pub game is laughed at. even if you're tank.
