So I've had a ton of games where I've seen a Bounty Hunter build a Battle Fury. As per Dotabuff statistics, it is the 6th most built item on a Bounty Hunter. Also, the ingame item suggestion recommends building a Battle Fury on a Bounty Hunter.

Personally, I think this is a ******ed choice. I was wondering if there might be something I'm missing here that makes Battle Fury a legit pickup on a Bounty Hunter. Here is my reasoning as to why the item is bad on the hero.

1. A Battle Fury is primarily a farming item.
Anti-Mage and Ember Spirit are pretty much the only heroes that benefit strongly from it. The item allows Anti-Mage to flash farm like no other combined with his low cooldown Blink.

2. Optionally, it is a good choice if enemies group up together.
Ember Spirit benefits from this since his Sleight of Fist allows him to safely target enemy heroes, making use of the cleave if they are clumped up. Even on him, it's not really a 100% pickup. You might go for a Drum of Endurance, Desolator build if you feel that you won't be able to get a good position for the cleave.

Kunkka, Phantom Assassin, Faceless Void can use the item situationally. Kunkka's built in cleave with Tidebringer stacks with Battle Fury, so it is a decent synergy for certain matchups.

Phantom Assassin's ult can end the game in a single teamfight with Battle Fury if she has a good setup hero like Magnus or Enigma that can clump enemies up together.

Faceless Void with his Chronosphere might have a chance at catching a couple of enemy heroes together.

Even on these heroes, I'm not a fan of Battle Fury since it's highly situational. Like I mentioned Anti-Mage and Ember Spirit are the only heroes on which I would pick up a Battle Fury.

3. It can be a good choice on a carry hero if the enemy has strong illusion based heroes.
You might want to pick up a Battle Fury is the enemy carry is a Phantom Lancer or Naga Siren or another heavy illusion based hero, in order to clear the illusions fast.

In my opinion, these are pretty much the only scenarios for buying a Battle Fury. Now, let's look at Bounty Hunter in terms of the three scenarios.

1. Bounty Hunter isn't a farming hero, much less a flash farmer. He is primarily a ganker, which means you are spending the majority of the time running between lanes, setting up kills. Every minute you aren't farming with your Battle Fury is a minute wasted, and this hero wastes a lot of time in this regard.

2. Again, since Bounty Hunter isn't a carry, he will not be building into damage items. Apart from Jinada (which is a COOLDOWN based skill), he has absolutely nothing that boost his right clicks. Consequently, this makes Battle Fury bad for him even if he has a setup hero like Magnus that can bring enemies together.

If I were to play a Bounty Hunter, my item build would probably be along the lines of Phase Boots --> Urn of Shadows --> Vladmir's Offering --> Dagon --> Ethereal Blade. Of course I'd only expect to pick up the first 3 items in most games. The Dagon and EBlade are luxury items.

TL;DR Version: What's your opinion on building a Battle Fury on a Bounty Hunter?

it is pretty much agreed upon that battlefury is only made by bad pub bounty hunters. as you said it doesnt fit his role or his skillset.

i believe it is a leftover from when drums didnt exist, it was mainly got for the regen.

the only heroes that it is core on are andy mage and ember. i dont agree with the deso on ember, battlefury'(s) is just so insanely good on him.

my usual build on bounty is orb of venom, then i get some of urn, vlads, madallion depending on the heroes in the game, and get phase if im doing well.
personally i dont really get drums that much since i like high impact items on bounty.

for luxury i look at orchid, blink, dagon, BKB, skadi, diffusal or MKB depending on the game and my farm.

The Perseverance regen can be easily replaced by other items now and bottle Gondar is actually more legit than ever now with double rune spawns.

I actually like building Desolator as first dmg item.

It's terrible. It's a farming item and BH is not a farming hero. Regen is unnecessary (also you do much better with burst regen like bottle and urn), cleave is unnecessary, and damage is overpriced.

The WHOLE idea of Bounty Hunter is to get close then unleash all hell in the space of three or 4 actions.

a level 16 Bounty Hunter does (300+(225%*B)+120)= D

say he does B = Base damage of 150.

he would do 757.5 damage in 2 actions.

He is best witch items that either amplify or enhance that quick burst of huge damage.

my build is

starting - Tango Iron Branch x3 Stout Shield Clarity

build into Phase Boots Urn of Shadows Magic Stick Poor Mans Shield

then roam while building Medallion of Courage Drum of Endurance

then build Desolator over the top of Magic stick.....

those items allow you to burst down most supports.

Battlefury is a STUPID item on someone that needs utility and burst.

i even go Dagon sometimes but very rarely.

I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL.... WITH FLUFFY BUNNIES

Yeah, it's awful. Damage and regen look great on paper, but you can't make use of the cleave and it's far too expensive for what you're getting out of it.

I pretty much always go Urn/Medallion into Phase Boots into Orchid. I play him as a borderline support hero unless I just start rolling in the early game, so I try to stack as much utility into him as I can.

EDIT: Also, the Valve guides are almost always 2-3 patches behind, so don't listen to them.. Unfortunately that's what people build off of, so a ton of BH players build it without thinking.
