This thing has been showing up quite a bit lately for a few days around from a lot of the top teams. I'm quite curious about what you guys really think about it ? Like sending him solo offlane for a nice/decent time level 6 for Chronosphere, how to lane him, item build wise, etc ... I think it's not that different compare to regular safe lane carry Void is it ? Love to hear what you guys can say about that :)
I dabbled a bit with offlane Void about a year ago, and it wasn't great then - Chronosphere just didn't offer enough utility to make it worth it and other heroes that were popular didn't synergize with him particularly well.
I've been trying it out again recently with some success. I'm still not completely sure what to buy on him (I've been experimenting with Tranquil-Aghanim-Mekansm-Blink) but it seems to be a lot more useful than it was in previous versions.
I've seen a lot of mid Void, which in my opinion works better: much like a mid SF or Naga, it works as a "side carry" getting more levels than farm. Before reaching the later stages of the game he only works as an initiator and deals decent damage, but if the game drags long enough he can outcarry the majority of Heroes (including your team's carry).
About the item build, people usually go for an optional Hand of Midas, then Power Treads and Mask of Madness so they're sure they will be able to kill at least one enemy inside the Chrono. Then, Aghanim's Scepter is the best decision if your team has many teamfight ultimates, while the Black King Bar prevents the enemies from affecting him and is one of the most common pickups for him. In the late game, Daedalus and Mjollnir are the usual damage items for him.
I don't think off-lane Void is a good idea (your farm will be really lackluster and you're not ensured a quick level 6 versus most of the trilanes), but if I had to play it I'd probably go for a quick Bottle into Power Treads, maybe taking a Morbid Mask before completing Treads to go jungle farm. My build would most likely be Bottle, Power Treads, optional Mask of Madness if not underlevelled/underfarmed and then probably an Aghanim's Scepter, after which the Black King Bar would be kind of mandatory. As for the skill build, going 2-2-1-1 by level 6 is my favourite setup for now, maxing out Time Walk first, then Time Lock and finally Backtrack.
I think the thing is that there's plenty of other heroes who can do a similar role, better. As good as Chronosphere is, without farm Void is a really lacklustre hero. An offlane Magnus or Tidehunter offer similar ultimate disables but a lot more utility with lower farm - plus they're both much better suited to surviving the offlane.
I think much si due to the increasing duration of mach (especially in the chinese scene), if you know that you will have a long (and quite passive) match, sooner or later evryone will have some farm, and at that point you're quite happy to transform your "so and so void offlaner" in "try to outcarry me in a 70minuts game void!!"
Sorry for my english!XD

Bam ! No Battle Fury !
In SEA pubs I've seen so much Hand of Midas and Battle Fury on Void in the same freaking time. *totalfacepalm*.
Letting Void solo the long lane and then supports rotation started to happening is what I've been seeing a lot, probably to transit that lane into an aggressive one. I forgot to say that, but bringing the offlane solo Void fact isn't hurt anyway. EG Na`Vi all done it in the last couple of days, so I kinda want to bring that up to here to discuss.
Thanks for all the feedbacks guys, really love it !
