Ok so here is the whole story. A couple months back my PC started lagging on me and so i checked into some stuff they told me to enter this console command to remove the background animations on the main dota 2 menu. Well turns out that wasnt the problem and now i need some help, HOW DO I GET IT BACK :c

I guess you have to reinstall Dota, unless clicking on the "Default" button in the advanced video settings fixes it.

Try to reinstall Dota or turn on Steam/library/Dota2/properties/local files/verify integrity of game cache. I prefer you should first try verify integrity of game cache cause that fixes the problem. If that doesn't work than reinstall Dota.

I imagine that the "0" means that "dota_embers" is a Boolean, so setting it to "1" should reenable the effects on loadup.

The only thing is, I read that this variable was supposed to get reset after you closed DOTA, so I'm surprised the problem didn't already fix itself. 8{(
