I stopped playing dota like a year ago, and now I'm back, so I dont really know how does the competitive metagame changed.
What are the other changes of the metagame ?
I have the feeling that the gameplay between Dota and Dota 2 is very different. In Dota you gank more, in Dota 2.....not.
Is it worthy to write trilaning guides? If not, so what would be you think the best laning strategy w/c should I create to start with with intermediate players or newly formed teams?
I don't want to learn the "meta-game" by watching some replays or reading some threads because the purpose of this thread will be useless.
(since I made the topic of "meta game", I assure that there will be another baby to die...)
A year ago in Dota 1, heroes like Medusa and Alchemist were very popular. Games would often go 50-60 minutes and have huge late-game carries. With the nerf to Alchemist's armor, Medusa's intelligence, and with the addition of better mid-game heroes like Shadow Demon, games tended to be decided in the earlier stages of the game. Push strategies became popular for a while, seeing heroes like prophet, syllabear and rhasta becoming more popular. Furthermore the classic 3/1/1 lane structure became less popular, becoming a 2/1/1 + jungle. This also helped with the re-emergence of Chen and Enchantress, further contributing to the push strategy. Even clinkz surfaced for a while as a counter to Chen.
Right now in dota2, the metagame is tending towards early ganking and pushing with ganks coming from the jungle and roaming supports rather than the solo mid hero. Teamfights tend to happen earlier i the game as a byproduct of the pushing metagame.
Top Picks in Dota2 currently:
Invoker
Antimage
Prophet
Windrunner
Chen
Shadow Shaman
Broodmother
Venomancer
Dark Seer
Sand King
Mirana
With the exception of Antimage, Mirana, and Windrunner, most of these heroes are popular either to push or to prevent pushes. Even Mirana and Windrunner are pretty good antipushes.
