So I play dedicated #5 support with my friend on carry. Now I want some input.
I am level 41 but I beat level 100+'s and I am in a team with friends.

The problem is... When I am playing HARD support, when a game stretches above 60 min. My carry complains of me being underfarmed and usless.
When I save up for mech while starving my carry complains for wards...
When I spend everything on wards/dust because we need it my carry ***** on me for not having meka under. 20 minutes.

I just spent an entire game helping my carry, I stacked camps all the time for him, keeped the enemies away, helped him farm etc.etc. And then he failed to kill even 1 of their players and he started raging at me for not being able to dish out more damage.

Do I understand Dota right? Is my view on position 5 wrong?

Sorry just cracked. Need help

There's a reason why the call position 5 the ward *****. Sadly there's no stats for stacking, pulling, saving the carry, sacrificing in the process, warding or zoning.

Player level doesn't equal skill, it's just how long you've been playing for.

Sounds like you did your job and he didn't do his. I'd stop playing hard support for him if I were you, unless this was an aberration and he's normally a lot better.

Side note, the #5 should never be the one who builds Mek, if you're doing your job you'll rarely finish it before 30 minutes, which is far too slow. When I'm drafting it's the #3 who gets Mek ~80% of the time.

Your 'friend' is obviously wrong.
Though the a lot of the difference between a decent and a really good support is how good he is in late game, a lot of them really fall off.

A support makes space and kills happen early, a a carry dishes out damage lategame.

If your friends says that you should output more damage you should switch roles and see how much DPS he does on lich.

Our #4 support never plays and he usually gets meka for us.
I can't leave my team though because I know these guys irl...

You should just tell this them in real life. Not over the internet just tell them.

If he is your friend and you explain he should understand right? Since i assume he gets mad in the heat of the moment.

If your carry isn't "carrying" you at that point, then hes not doing his job. If you bought wards/smoke/dust etc. then youve done your job. At that point your job is just to keep wards up and try to get off your spells in a fight.

Exactly as one guy above says, position 5 is the official ward *****, you only buy consumables like smoke ,dust wards.
It is your 4 or 3 who will get mek, like your offlane dark seer or mid viper.
But sometimes you have to cut back on wards when playing solo support cause it is your team's fault for not having a 4.

There was this one game a couple of days of ago when i was solo support pugna , i bought so many wards that they constantly remained in cd, and you know what the noob carry said, we need wards.
I told him they were in cd, he then says get wards, we need more wards.
I am the Abaddon *****!!!

Doesn't sound like much of a friend to me but that's your business. Carrys are usually ****s it's in their nature. Good carrys usually aren't. A good example is placing wards carrys think supports should wander around the enemy jungle placing wards with no escape mechanism and not die. Many don't understand that they have to come with you to place those wards. If your team is under pressure they should even come with you to place wards in your own jungle.

One thing you can do to get your levels up and recover from the early game is as soon as your mid leaves lane you go there and farm for a few minutes. Obviously have a tp scroll on you. But this should get you your level 6 and completed boots.

Another thing you can do is to watch a pro game. I would recommend an Alliance game and leave the camera on the 5 support in this case Akke. Watch his movement, how he gets his levels etc. Maybe have your carry friend watch it with you.

Watch your own games back wins and losses. So you can identify where you are being inefficient in gaining xp.

Get heroes who are more relevant late game or maybe that's the problem. If you're picking a tide hunter for position 5 you might never get the items and XP you need and tide is item and level dependent. If you're picking a CM then it's unlikely that you will ever be relevant late game. For me the heroes who can be relevant throughout are people like Disruptor, Shadow Shaman, Witch Doctor. Each of these also has the ability to farm gold fairly fast in mid game but really they don't need that much gold to still be relevant late game.
