I just had the worst game possible. My teammates were great except for one person. Here is the scenario: (i won't list the heroes like i normally do in my blog post because it is irrelevant)
It was the beginning of the match, we all picked our heroes. I paused the game because my team had one guy that didn't pick a hero yet. It took him about 2 minutes before he finally picked a hero. He chose Medusa. It was fine because we lacked a mid-lane hero. After he picked his hero, i noticed he wasn't moving until about 3 minute after the first wave of creeps spawned. Already, i was ticked off. However, this story gets better. He gave the enemy Pudge first blood and said he doesn't have energy for his computer. Everyone was like "WTF!!" He disconnect and never came back. To make matter worst, this was a ranked match. At first, I had hope for my team because we did really well in the early game, despite the stupid Medusa. As the match drags on, my team started to lose fights. I don't mind them because it was a 4v5 match since the beginning.
Who would queue up for a match knowing your computer is about to die and actually accept the match? Even now, i think about that dumb player who decided to queue up for a match with almost no battery on his computer. Sometime I wonder if that person was some stupid troll that just want to ruin the game for everyone.
I'm sorry for sounding so childish, but you can understand my frustration. I never had this kind of problem with dota before so I got really mad when i did. I did report Medusa but the damage is already done. Please leave a comment below about what you think about Medusa or a terrible experience you had that was similar to this.
My first public dota match was a KOTL running to the enemy towers before the game even started and left immediately, almost made me never want to play dota.
I'm sorry to say that rude and early leaving players are often Russians. I've nothing against Russians players (even if I know that there are many topics about this), but now when I see Cyrillic I tremble.
Be ZEN. Your peace of mind is more important.
Peppo got the right idea when he suggested getting friends and playing with them. Your games tend to be more solid and it makes you a better player. If you plan to solo queue, expect feeder, ragers, and trolls. Don't let them ruin the game for you. Rage comes with the game, but that shouldn't stop you from playing it like Peppo's friend. Dota is fun, so don't let people ruin it for others.
I sound like some motivational Dota speaker in the second paragraph, lol.
I have seen many feeders, quitters, ragers, compulsive feeders, and the worst of them all of them in a single package.
You have to just make your peace with it.
PS: a friend of mine actually quitted Dota because he kept getting angry at losses. He was pretty decent at playing the game, but he would just lose control after getting stomped by a team abusing Mirana's Moonlight Shadow or versus a random Hero with a stupid Shadow Blade pick (like Earthshaker or Tiny). The problem is that now we're even less in our fun team (which was composed by 4 players - including him - plus a random guy we found online), so I kinda abandoned team matchmaking.
I'm sure he will eventually come back to play. Well, maybe.
