What about Phoenix or, if he's still viable, Earth Spirit?

I didn't mean to exclude them by any means, I was just giving examples of unreleased heroes. I am terrible at ES so can't really relate there but Phoenix definitely has interesting qualities that I think give him a high skill cap and allow him to really make differences in teamfights.
I got to Notable, Thanks!

Phoenix and Earth Spirit are pretty good heroes but they won't really change the meta, both are super agressive(hmm come to think of it i play everyone like that :P)

I love to play Phoenix mid for fast levels then set out to be the anti-tank.

I experienced 1st hand the mayhem a pro player can do (me on my 4th game of all time)(before the nerf). I absolutely owned the enemy team, had something like a 25-1 score.

However good these heroes might be their counters are basic silences.

What i am waiting for is Arc warden and Winter wyvern. The people will literally cry for nerfs.

Forget techies he is countered just like an invis team.

The oracle also has an impressive skill set, like an advanced dazzle or something.
I am the Abaddon *****!!!

I think some of you are clearly underestimating TBs early game power. His pushing power is ridiculously good (#1 hero concerning Towerdamage/Minute according to dotabuff). You are right, if you say that the current meta is very unfriendly towards real hard(!)-carries, but from my experiences TB comes online quite quick. Black King Bar + a mere Yasha work stunningly well on him...and since the current meta is all about the midgame, i wouldnt be surprised to see him being picked up competitively from time to time 2 tbh...though he definitely is more of a situational pick. Whats also worth mentioning, is, that he can OBLITERATE those "low base armor" - heroes like Alchemist, Lifestealer and Clockwerk
