Dota growers larger as each day passes. Thus remembering about a few days ago it had 6.995.438 unique players. When I saw yesterday and today as well the number increased to 7.052.885 unique players. What do you guys and girls think. Will Dota have 10 million players till June? As I know years ago it had more players than today. Actually since LoL came out and HoN most Dota players turn to those games and the actual number decreased to 2 million players when I was playing on Garena. So my question is will it reach 10 million till June? Probably. And maybe till the end of the year from 15 to 17 million players (maybe I'm over doing it with the number :) ). Your thoughts people!

Definitely overdoing it.

Reaching 8 million itself will be a really slow process. There will come a point where the growth of players will become slow.

Back in beta, dota 2 stopped at around 3~4 million. This got to 6 when it officially came out, and now it's 7.

It's not that more players would be a bad thing, but considering the rate of growth of the community, the assumptions here are definitely way too much.

9-10 million till the end of the year seems manageable to me...anything more though, would already be considered wild speculation, considering how player growth / month looks atm.

Well Dota is harder the number of increase will be slow. Yet still game of the year. And still better compare to the other MOBA.

It truly depends on League of Legends, the trends Riot continues, changes SFC with the game. It still has many, many more players and is much more new player friendly. I feel as though sooner than later Heroes of Newerth will die out, and the remaining players will transition to Dota. League players will more than likely stay where they're at, as it has a massive, loyal, following. Also don't forget Blizzard will be releasing its MOBA eventually and that may hurt the Dota player base as well. There are simply too many variables to really guess expansion of the player base accurately.

Honestly, by the end of the year, I'm going to guess the highest possible will be around 9 million players, you have to account for players that will inevitably quit the game. You also have to consider the New World of Warcraft expansion, as a solid number of the dota player base are wow players, so that could potentially draw players away, as well as the Blizzard Moba (Heroes of the Storm or whatever it's called), they have fat wallets and can invest a lot into making it potentially better than Dota. My advice, just play dota, regardless of the size of the player base, as you progress, there will be less players in the higher brackets anyway.

Step 2: type in all chat:"GL hf"
Step 3: solo offlane
Step 4: first blood triple kill solo vs trilane
Step 5: continue head butting keyboard
Step 6: don't care, Bristleback doesn't give a ****
Step 7: screenshot repeated: BB OP comments in all chat
Step 8: alternate games with Slark pick
