so I have a sony laptop from 2009 and it has been running dota just fine till the recent update. I'm not sure if it's because of my laptop being too old or something starting to tear down, but should I either:
A. Get a new laptop (recommend me a budget gaming laptop with i7 and SSD at least)
B. Defrag/Antivirus scan my laptop for clues?
Defrag the laptop. If that does not work, scan and destroy any viruses you might have.If these don't work, I suggest grabbing a screwdriver, and cleaning the laptop's cooler, since it might have a lot of dust inside, which might cause overheating.
To add onto what Wulfstan was recommending I suggest CCleaner, Defraggler, and Avast! Antivirus. They're all free and work pretty well. Alternatively AVG's trial bundle of tools, is good way to clean it. And I open up and clean my computer every other month because we have animals and it dusts up pretty quick. Keeping the vent circulation in laptops is especially important since they're prone to heat.
