Just gaining others personal opinions or fact. I have someone who swears that he's a support but from what I remember and how I used to play him, he's a carry.

Thanks guys.

He can be played both ways. He isn't a hard carry but he is a carry nonetheless. I prefer to play him in a supportive role.

I can't agree more with Gunker!
If the day should ever come when we must go, if some day we are compelled to leave the scene of history, we will slam the door so hard that the universe will shake and mankind will stand back in stupefaction.

He can be sort of a semi-carry, never truly a hard carry. At the end of the day you are just there for your Last Word.

Start off as a support and fall into a semi-carry role. The guy can dish out some serious damage, similar to a nuker.

Yeah silencer is definitely best played as a hard carry.

He doesn't have enough utility to support in the later stages of the game. His ultimate is very good, but he needs damage to back it up or he turns into a non-factor.

Thanks guys for all the answers. I'm always being pushed too play him as a pure support (buy wards courier all the time.), and yet from what I remember in the past he was always some sort of carry. Good answers =)

The thing is he has two silences, one spell only really useful for harass and then one offensive ability. He just doesn't make for a hard carry, I mean it can work, but he would be sub-par.

I prefer him played as a support. He is too soft in my opinion to played as a carry, but his lane harass is very nice. His aura and his ult make him a threat in team fights and a little damage from his glaives making fairly strong but he is a more reliable support than played as a carry.
