The concede option has been in team games for as long as I can remember..... You type gg and there's a 10 second count down. Does steam have some sort of diabolical reason for not allowing concede in public games? Forcing players to sit out games that were clearly lost 30 minutes ago, and punishing them with low priority if they don't. Do any of you know how boring it is to sit there and have the other team deliberately prolong the game for no reason?
and because some troll would constantly type in GG then cancel at the last second then do it again and again and again to annoy the **** out of you. Even if you cancel its still RATHER annoying.
Well, to make it work you could make it a vote. When someone says gg a vote goes to each person on the team, they vote whether to concede or not, and then they concede or don't and the game goes on. Each person would probably only get one chance to activate the vote though, to prevent abuse.
You could 3 stack and troll BUT comebacks are always possible like once i remember we were all rax down and none of their towers had fallen. They got cocky and let us farm and we won
This is obvious. If only 1 concede were allowed every so often along with voting, then what is there to abuse? as it stands now if you fail to accept a match or decline, you can't search for 1 minute and 45 seconds. Why would a similar system not work?
It was funny/sad watching The International and seeing all of these games concede at 15 minutes, knowing that this option is not available in pubs. The result is 30%+ of pub gaming time is a complete bore. The community is to blame for enabling this sort of attitude with the usual argument -- "comebacks happen." Granted, comebacks happen. But if a team unanimously decides to end the game in the face of an overwhelming advantage, they should have that right. Not having a surrender option in this game is a sick joke.
If you're worried about abuse, ensure the following two features are a part of the concede option:
- The vote must be unanimous. This means that if even one player on the team thinks there is a chance to win, he/she simply does not vote and the game goes on. Comebacks can and will still happen with a surrender option.
- No surrender before 20-30 minutes. I can't tell you how many games I've played where a team has already lost a set of barracks (or two) at 20-30 minutes, it's 45-12, and yet the game continues to drag on for 30+ minutes. Ridiculous.
Because while 1 team may be having a bad time losing, the other team is having fun winning. If every other game is a concede, games would just get very boring. Not to mention comebacks are all too prevalent in dota 2.
