Hey thanks for the responces! Parents said they would chip in half the cost. So i can go to around 500$, does that open up any more laptops that could handle DotA2?
I don't think you will be able to get a 1080p laptop unless you buy a refurbished one from craigslist or ebay. If you want a truly new laptop, your only option with a $500 budget is 720p.
I would go for the Acer actually. My first instinct was to go with the HP with the AMD APU, but looking it performance bench's it seems that the HD4400 iGPU (graphics card in the CPU) outperforms the HD7520G (different product lines entirely despite similar naming) in the A6 APU.
As for a 1080p screen, yea you would need to buy 2nd hand or front up more cash for it. You could connect it too a desktop monitor if you wanted the resolution, but I think then your back at your original problem.
Since you already have a desktop, you don't really need to go any higher than 720p on a laptop (which I assume is going to be your secondary source for gaming anyway?).
